Points expiring on new contract

So, I finally took the plunge and bought my first DVC contract (resale). I got a somewhat heavily front loaded 250 point SSR contract. It has December use year and 100 of those points have already been banked from 20011 so they expire December 1. I just sent in the contract, it still needs to go through ROFR, and then I assume I will also need to wait for my membership activation.

Does that put me near end of August? Maybe longer? Lets say end of September. That leaves me October and November to use or lose those points.

I assume renting the points out is probably not going to happen on that short of notice. Will we be able to get a room at 2 months or lesst time frame to try and go in November? Obviously we won't be picky. We would have to take anything we can get, but will there be anything available? Say a studio or 1 bedroom for a long 4 or 5 day weekend?

We'd rather not take our first trip until early next year, but I'd hate to completely waste those 100 points.

I think,you will find something in those months, not counting holidays. But you will need to be flexible with where you stay and possibly even with switching rooms or resorts.

You could book something as soon as you have access and then try to rent out that reservation...for like $10pp...maybe . Good luck with ROFR and I hope it goes quickly for you!!

I closed and got points on a contract at the end of May immediately listed them for rent since they were to expire Sept. 30th and had them rented with in 2 hours. I listed them for 9.00PP if someone took all of them (130). If you only have 2 months I still think you can rent them discounted but dates maybe a bit limited. Good luck
