Points expiring, looking for suggestions

I have a situation where my 2019 points expire on July 31st (Aug UY). It looks like I missed my banking window as I was a little distracted in the early part of the year and have appealed to Disney for consideration. They are not allowing for exceptions to bank points and I am not able to rent them as the parks aren't open and we don't know the opening dates ( I checked this option already) It's possible that we'll hear something soon about park/resort opening dates and someone might want to book a last minute trip in July. Otherwise, my points roll off.

I can look at DCI, but they aren't for Disney resorts. Or am I wrong about that? I haven't been impressed with the values although I haven't looked in the past few years.

Any suggestions? I know that we're in a unique situation, but the response I received was that Disney management isn't going to allow exceptions. I'll own the mistake, but wanted to see if anyone has had success navigating around this.

You can only use the points for Disney Collection if your points were bought direct or before 2011.

The other option is depositing them in RCI and will then have 2 years to use them to book a trip.

The deadline is 45 days before they expire...so June 17th. Since your points were not from a canceled reservation during the closure, they are taking a hard line on late banking.

I assume we will have information by the end of the month on an opening date for resorts and parks. At that time, you may find someone interested in a last minute rental,

Thanks Sandi. Any idea why they are taking such a hard line? Are they trying to keep the financial exposure in this fiscal year? If we were able to book July reservations, I could see that it's on me. However, most people that are still employed have had to use up their vacation time which makes a last minute trip very difficult. I would have been open to a negotiation on banking fewer points, but it was a hard line "no exception". I may have to be one of "those" people who escalate the request through the leadership team.

With the closure, and all the extra points, they aren’t bending on late banking.

They weren’t even going to bend for those with April and June UYs who had canceled reservations due to closure to bank late, but did reverse as long as the points came from a canceled reservation.

So, they need to control things in a way. It is also the reason they changed borrowing...only 50% right now..

I had a few points that I didn’t realize were not banked and part of my June reservation. Was told only if it got canceled would they consider it, Trip is now first week in July and I used them up to book a 4th night. Hoping resorts open by then!

Even if you are eligible to book the Disney Collection, you are too late to book with an Aug UY. You cannot book and go during the last four months of your UY (Rule of Four).

I'll own the mistake, but wanted to see if anyone has had success navigating around this.

Two suggestions. For the first to have "success" it may involve "navigating" through uncharted waters.

1. Book a trip starting June 1st. If it is cancelled by DVC, the current policy seems to indicate they will allow late banking, although if the reservation was made after the resorts were closed and after the banking window had passed it might not apply. (see below)
2. As Sandi said above, deposit into RCI. Deadline is June 17th for Aug UY points that expire on July 31, 2020.

Members with later Use Years should follow normal banking guidelines to bank their current Use Year Vacation Points. If a reservation was cancelled due to the Resort closure after the Member’s banking window, an exception will be made to bank the allotted Points associated with that reservation. https://disneyvacationclub.disney.go.com/borrow-points/policy-updates/
