I just stumbled upon Points.com today, its an exchange program for your points from FF miles, etc. I lucked out because the first exchange was FREE. Well, myself, my husband and my son all had about 7,000 miles in our American Airlines FF account which we will never use because we usually fly Continental and so that was a fluke we ended up on AA. Anyways, I was able to open an account for each of us, convert those miles into a $50 super certificate for each of us and then cash those in for RFC gcs and a Borders one for my husband. Webcertificate is a partner there but American apparently doesn't exchange with them.
I guess the moral of my story is that if you have any mileage sitting around in accounts for airlines you don't expect to be flying again, you might want to check this out. I know Alaska and America West were a couple of other partners as far as airlines go. I know there were a couple of others.
I don't know if I will end up using this service again because it will cost me (I think its $19.95 for a year membership, unlimited exchanges or $5.95 per exchange) but getting that first one each free was great and now I have $100.00 more in my Disney Fund because we always stop by RFC at least once.
