points and cash reservation question

I have a quick question for the group. I am wanting to book a week in a 2BR for some friends of ours. I have seen on this group the suggestion for points for weeknights and cash for weekends, which is the avenue that I explored to book this for them as I am a bit limited on points. Originally, I was going to book sun-thu, then cash for fri and sat. Apparently airfare is much higher on Sunday than on Monday, so they are asking if I can book it Mon-Mon or Tues-Tues. So I figure with you folks being the most knowlegdable on the subject I would pose this question to you:
Can I book a 2 BR from Mon-Thurs nights on points, pay cash for Fri and Sat, then points again for Sun night? Or would such a reservation most likely result in having to change rooms at least once and possibly twice? Any other tips or insight on the subject are greatly appreciated.

Yes you can, and I have done it. It is complicated tho, so be prepared to explain and re-explain what you are doing when talking to MS; it is a bit of work for them, so it will likely take a while. But you do need to book everything thru Member Services so they can keep everything linked together; easier to have one-stop shopping that way too. If everything gets linked together properly, it would be very unlikely that they would need to change rooms, assuming the room size and view remains the same throughout.

I, too, have done this many times before. While it is easier thru MS, sometimes they do not have discounts on the days you want. If this is the case, or you have an AP and want the discount which MS may not have, let both CRO and MS know what you are doing, and ask them to note that you also have ressies for fri-Sat on cash then Sun-Mon on points. They can connect the ressies in the comment box which shows up on their screen. Make sure that CRO notes it, as well as MS, then mention it again when you check in. I have never had a problem doing this, but you do need to be sure that everything is cross-referenced.

Just 1 point. You didn't mention where you were booking. If by chance you are attempting to do this with a BWV Boardwalk View, you can't book a cash ressie, ever, for a Boardwalk View. 1 exception, if they have the availability you want within 60 days of your stay.

That's good to know. Thx Bill! So apparently they did not do the same split for cash ressies as they did for points ressies; come to think of it, for cash ressies there is no view distinction at all, is there? Hmmm, come to think of it, we have the weekend nights of our Nov trip booked for cash (w/DVC discount), but ours are Std view. So here's hoping we sould not have to move (Doubtful, I imagine).
