for those unfortunate guests who got snowed in and maybe will not make it to WDW do they get their points returned or placed in holding since they did not voluntarily cancel after the 30 day mark

As noted, it is done case by case. DVC should certainly not be responsible for things they have no control over including weather but they tend to be fairly flexible overall.
Granted I was half asleep this morning, but I made my DVC reservation and I think she said something about getting travel insurance. We had to do this for the cruise, do people usually do this for DVC?

What is "Reservation Status"? I see it on the TSS website listings, and I think I have seen it on other resale listings also. Do they mean Holding Account? I think I have seen people use it on these boards too.

Reservation status means that the points were used for a reservation out of the DVC resorts. Perhaps they were used to book a cruise. They became "reservation points" and cannot go back to becoming "vacation points."
Thank you bobbiwoz.
So when I see that on a listing, does that mean those points are part of the deal, or not part of the deal?
If they are part of the sale, then the buyer would have to use them for a cruise, or RCI, or DisneyLand, or what else?

A WDW resort that's not connect to DVC, except not the value resorts, concierge collection, Adventures by Disney. Look in the vacation planner and you can see what sort of stay involves "Reservation points."
