Hello everyone,
We just got back from a wonderful Disney vacation and had the opportunity to listen to the DVC presentation. We are seriously considering buying in and are looking at all options (direct from Disney or resale).

While looking through this forum, I thought of a question. If we go the resale route, could we make two separate purchases at two different resorts (say 100 points at Boardwalk and 200 at Animal Kingdom to have a total of 300 points)and then have 11 month booking rights at both resorts? Can you only use the points you bought at that resort to book or can you combine them to book? I ask because I love the Boardwalk and Beach Club locations but hate that they will expire way sooner than the newer DVC resorts. I'd feel better if the points I do purchase last as long as possible.

I hope this makes sense! Thanks for any insight you can give me!

the underlined part.

if i own a contract with 200 SSR pts and add-on a 25 pt BWV contract, then at the 11 month window for BWV, i can only use pts from the 25 pt BWV contract. at 7 months out, i can use SSR pts to book BWV if there is still availability.

but you cannot jump in front of BWV owners with SSR pts and vice-versa.

(so naturally, if i am booking SSR (or THV) at 11 months, i can only use SSR pts. you get the 11 month window at both resorts, but only for that resort's points. you'd have 2 "home resorts" but it is the points that have the booking priority, not you as the owner.)

Thank you! That is kind of what I figured!!

What's more important to you having a longer length contract or being able to book at the resorts you love at 11 months?

I would guess that few will keep their contracts full term.

Just remember, its the points that have the 11 month window so if they are BWV points, they get to be used at BWV.

While that extra time can make a difference, we are still talking 29 years before those BWV points expire. That is a long time and I agree with Bill, owning at the place that you want to be so you can book well in advance is very important.

DVC is too big of an expense to buy something that you may not be 100% happy with. We own BWV and BLT for these exact reasons---I could have spent a lot less if I had not bought BLT but it made more sense to spend more to love what I own.

Good luck!
