Point Values for World Passport Collection-Experiences?

I just got my GIANT kit today in the mail. I couldn't believe all that was included.

I have a questions specifically about the World Passport Collection. These are other resorts that you exchange for a 1-week period?

I saw a 2003 point chart which only had 3 point values for these exchanges: low season, a middle season, and high season.

Is this to say that all of these properties are exchanged for the same number of points? That seemed to simple to me!

Anyone know if it varies much?

They were approximately 140, 150 and 160 according to season/week. Do they ever get to be much more than this? Or is this about what you can expect on average? Anyone use the World Passport Collection (There are domestic properties in this too? Right?)

This is a new system they went to last year. Previously, it was a "guess" as to how many points it would take to make an exchange. Each exchange was negotiated seperately. Not having a chart (like our other options) was initimidating to people. So, yes. That's the very simplistic point chart. Unlike DVC resorts, these points can increase. We haven't got much history to follow yet.

Welcome! Read through everything so that it's all at least "back of mind" when you start making plans.

So then you are saying that these points are set on an annual or so basis and are the same across the board (according to accomodation type and season of course)?

They are set each year it appears. The studios are a little less and the 3 BR units more. Each resort is different as to which season it will fall into for an exchange so you still need to call and ask about each one. The system is simple but the outcome is very variable and complicated. Many exchanges don't occur until 6 months out or less, making air fare a problem in some cases.

I see the problem. In the past, I've always searched for the best airfare time first and found accomodations later, which is usually easier. In this case, it's the accomodations that you have to shop for. Wow! That's something to think about.

For most things that are high demand in the timeshare world you need to search at least a year out. It does make air fare a problem but at least with DVC you can check and see what the air fare is before you have to say yes or no. That's not true with the rest of II, you put in a search and they confirm it without calling you to ask if you still want it.

Wow, Dean! That is a nice benefit. I would put in for a request before I would commit my points. (Whatever that other option is when you deposit your points) That seems like a no-brainer.

I'm really glad we have that option to "take it or leave it" regarding their offers. Am I understanding that correctly?

The only reason to do a deposit first is if the points are expiring and you aren't going to use them otherwise or if you need to cancel and can't use the reservation.
