point usage question

I may be in a position to use DVC points for our upcoming trip.
The DVC member's home resort is SSR. Can their points be used at POR? If so, does anyone know how many points will be used to stay at POR? We are currently booked for 4 nights.
Also, is there a time frame in which points can be used? We're going to be there from October 30 to November 3.

Sorry if this is a silly question, I'm just trying to gather as much information as I can quickly!

Using points at non-DVC resorts takes a lot of points, and requires a $95 fee. For your dates, it will be either 104 or 110 points, depending upon view. By contrast, a DVC studio at nearby OKW, with 2 queen beds and kitchenette, would be 58 points.

It also depends upon the owners use year. If the owner is within the last 4 months of their use year, they can not make a reservation to stay at a non-DVC resort.

You would do much better to stay at a DVC resort than POR...however...it is going to be VERY tough, if not impossible, to get a DVC reservation for your dates. Those are prime Halloween/Food & Wine Fest. days and the DVC properties are pretty solidly booked. It's definitely worth a call from your friend to Member Services, but I think it's going to be tough.
