Point Transfers..

Can someone please explain to me how you would go about transferring points from someone else how does all of it work?

Let's say you want to transfer 100 points to your friend, Mary (who is also a member).

You call MS. You tell the CM that you want to transfer 100 points to Mary. You give the CM Mary's full name ( as it is on her contract) and her address. (It would be helpful to have Mary's Membership number, but I have been told that it is not necessary). That's all there is to it.

Remember that transferring is a final transaction - it cannot be reversed. You are allowed one transfer per use year per membership, either into the account or out of it.

Ok, i have more questions as to transfers.....

How long is the transfer valid for? Is use year an issue? ...which kinda leads me to the next question...

Are Transfer points able to be banked?

Does it matter which resort the points are received from? ( i imagine that if it does matter, then if i wanted to reserve a resort other than my home resort, i should choose those points?)

Is there anything important i haven't thought of?

I appreciate any help or advice anyone can give concerning transfers...

Transferred points will retain their original Use Year and Home Resort. They can be banked.

If you want points to make a reservation at a specific resort 11 months ahead, you will need to have points for that resort or wait until 7 months.

Transferred points cannot be borrowed.

Once transferred, the points will expire at the end of their Use Month unless banked for another year. The transferred points will not appear in your online account since they are tracked separately by MS.

As Carol explained, all that is needed for the transfer is enough information for MS to identify the member accepting the points - Full Name and city of residence is usually enough although membership number would remove all doubt.

Do you know how long it takes transferred points to show up. For example if I find someone willing to sell points, check availability and call the transferee and have them transfered and they get on the phone and immediately and transfer them will they be available to me right away?

are there any responsibilities for Maintenance fees if you received transferred points? or are they still paid by the original owner as normal?

When I called in and spoke with MS the other day, I specifically asked about this and the rep said they WOULD show up in your online account and if you make a reservation with transferred points the reservation would ALSO show up in your online account. Was I given wrong info?

I'm guessing that with transferred points the reservation would be visible to MS if you call in and ask about pending reservations...?

The reservation will show up in your online account, but my understanding is that the transferred points will not be viewable online except by MS. There have been many reports confirming this but it's possible that the system has been upgraded to change that.

The points should show up instantly in MS's computers. They will not appear in your online account unless you transferred in points with the same UY and home resort as your own. I did this by accident this year, transferred in some VGC points with a June UY which is the same as what I have, and they appeared with my regular points as one big lump sum online. When I have transferred points into my other account with a non matching UY and Home resort I could not see them online, but MS knew they were there for me to make reservations with.

Just to be clear, transferred points can be banked, but banked points cannot be transferred. As stated earlier, transferred points cannot be borrowed, and borrowed points also cannot be transferred.

Though they usually cannot be tracked online (exception noted above), it is important to track your transferred points carefully when making a transaction with MS. Mistakes often happen with transferred points.

Same for me...the BLT points I received with the same UY as the BLT contract I own did show up on my online account.
