Point transferring MS manual
Since all indications are from the fact that members get varying answers when they try to transfer that the “existing manual” is little more than what if posted in the planner and on the website, it would be “fun” to create our own based on the members best understanding and experiences, which is clear and comprehensive enough to end the confusion. I have included the current “published policy” at the beginning of each section for reference. And have numbered each “draft item” so those that have a comment, modification or change can use them. My notes are in bold and examples are in italics. Once it is complete I will send it off to the “powers that be”
Current policies limit vacation point-transfer transactions to one per Member or Membership, either as transferee or transferer during a given use year.
(not an English major but I think it should be transferor not transferor)
2. Each membership (unique member number) has the transfer rights as designated in #1
Reservation points may not be transferred
3. Reservation points may not be transferred
Members can transfer home resort vacation points to another member that does not have the same use home resort vacation points. The vacation points retain the Use year and Home resort priority of the membership they were transferred from.
4. Points may be transferred between members with different Use years and/or Home resorts
5. Transferred points retain their original use year (both month and year)
6. Transferred points retain their original resort designation and home resort priority.
New (I have not had specific references to #8)
7. Holding points may be transferred, and retain their holding status.
8. Points, which have been transferred into an account, may not be transferred back out. (Without this you could transfer in 2011 use year points during your 2010 membership use year and transfer them back out during your 2011 membership use year)
Transferring is a final transaction. Once points have been transfer they cannot be returned to the transferring member.
9. Properly authorized and executed transfers are final transaction and cannot be reversed.
All transferred vacation points expire at the end of the transferring members use year (The next line contradicts this)
10. Transferred vacation points expire at the end of their original current use year (transferring members) unless they are banked. (Not the receiving members use year)
Transferred points may be banked
11. Transferred points may be banked
12. Transferred points follow the banking rules for their original UY (month)
13. Banked transferred points expire at the end of the original UY that they are banked into. Example a member transfers in April 2010 points, they must be banked by 11/30/2010 otherwise if unused they expire on 3/31/2011. If they are banked they are eligible for reservation from 4/1/11 to 3/30/2012, if unused they expire after 3/30/2012
New (But widely reported)
14. Transferred points may not be borrowed.
Banked or borrowed points may not be transferred.
15. Banked points may not be transferred
16. Borrowed points may not be transferred
New (Broadly reported and recently confirmed)
17. Only points from the transferring out member’s current UY or the immediate following UY are eligible to be transferred out.
New (Valid from personal experience, although still an item of difference within DVC)
18. Members transferring in may receive points with different UY years Examplel,: A member in May 2010 could receive any of the following examples: Any June -December 2009 points, any 2010 points, February – April 2011 points.
New (But widely reported)
19. A single transfer transaction may include different resorts and/or different years points, which are eligible for transfer.
Members are prohibited from receiving compensation for engaging in any transferring of points
20. Members are prohibited from receiving compensation for engaging in any transferring of points.
Vacation points can be transferred only if both accounts are in “good” status and all fees and payments are current.
21. Vacation points can be transferred only if both the transferring out and transferring in member’s contracts are in “good” status and all fees and payments are current.
22. Once Points are transferred they are unaffected by the original transferring out members status.
Please pick this apart and add as needed. I know this is to long for the planner but would be appropriate for the website and MS manual.
