I don't want to call MS this week, as this is not an urgent question and I know they're still trying to catch up after Frances. Maybe someone here knows the answer.

My question is regarding transferred points. I know they retain their original use year. I know I can bank them. My question is: If I bank them do they STILL retain their original u/y?

Here is the real life scenario:
My use year is December. I am getting some points transferred from another member that are from 2004, August use year. If I bank the other member's points I assume that they will then be good from August 1 2005-July 31 2006? They won't become December 2005-November 2006 use year points because I banked them will they?

If anyone can help me with the answer I'd appreciate it.

You are correct. They retain their original use year. I have transferred points into my account and while they lost their original resort identity, they did not lose their use year.

Excellent, that was the answer I was hoping for! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

True, in theory, that should be what happens: the points keep their UY and their home resort. I had the opposite of what HBC had happen: the points lost their UY but kept the home resort. In my case I have a Feb UY, and I had points transferred from ppl with Aug and Dec UYs; MS asked if I wouldn't mind if the tranferred points could just be switched over to my UY as this would make things easier in their system. Furthermore, they informed me that they could transfer the points into either my current 2004 UY or the upcoming 2005 UY. Hmmm. The points did keep their home resorts tho.

Now, as for banking these points MS noted that they fell outside of my normal banking guidelines and that I could bank all of them provided I was not past the final 25% banking deadline. Now I had received one batch of 39 and another of 24, and there is no way that I will be banking any more than 120 of my 500 points, so no banking pressure here. I am not sure what would happen in practise if I were anywhere near my banking limits. But again, two different MS representatives informed me that transferred points would be outside of the normal banking guidelines. I don't know what the theory is here, but this is the practise in my experience.

Good luck!
