Hey all!
We are in the VERY early phases of planning a trip. I was playing around with some numbers, and if we went all out, we would be short points (this is includes 3 years worth of points). I'm just curious is there anyway to get these extra points:confused3 :confused3 I was looking around the rent/ trade boards, and said that member point transfer was not suppose to have any monetary involvement:confused3 Any suggestions? Or will i be forced to cut back on my Disney:rotfl2: (just a note: i have someone in school, so when we travel is limited to summer and his vacations)
TIA

You could add-on to your contract, you can get a point transfer from another member (once per use year), or you could rent a reservation from another member.

Am i correct in reading the members are not suppose to transfer money when transferring points? Are members really willing to do that?

You are correct, Members are not suppose to transfer points for money.

You are also not suppose to drive faster than the posted speed limit. :thumbsup2

Good point. Now i'm just curious... is there some kind of penalty is Disney catches you :rolleyes1 or what the point is in that rule?

I'm confused. You can't transfer points for money, but you can rent them right? What's the diff?

I think transfer is taking points out of your account and putting them into mine. And renting is I make the reservation in your name using my points and then you give me money. You can do both, but not transfer for money... I honestly have no clue why that money rule is there for the transfers:confused3

Technically, points have no value. They just represent the owner's interest in a portion of a deeded lease. That interest can't be transferred without going through a legal process.

The rule is also there so that Disney doesn't have to get involved in any disputes regarding point transfers. (Points have no value). If there is a problem with a transfer, the members are on their own to resolve it. Disney won't help.

I am quite sure DVC/Disney knows that money changes hands when points are transferred between members. I have never read about any "penalty" imposed by DVC /Disney on a member who participated in one.

OP - If you don't want to do a point transfer, you can have another member reserve one or more days for you and then have MS link the day(s) to the reservation made with your points. Personally, I'd opt for the point transfer.
