Point rental strategy?

We are planning a trip for (dates). I have to start socking money away for it now, so I figure I'm entitled to start planning it now, right?

We are thinking about renting DVC points at the (resort+room type), spending Fri & Sat nights at the Contemporary in a regular cash rate room.

My question is, when do you think I should start looking for points to rent? Would I be better off renting from two owner whose home resorts match our needs, and booking at the 11 month window?

I'm wondering how heavily DVC properties "sell out" at the 11 month mark, vs. the 7 month mark.

You may want to refer to our DVC Point Charts located on the top of the boards here to plot your strategy.

Your post has been edited as details such as resort, dates, room type, etc may only be posted on the DVC Rent/Trade Board. General questions without those details are fine here, though.

As Carol said, you can't post exactly what you are looking for, but you're going to have to post the month/year of your trip for people to be able to give you any real input. You can also post the type of villa you will need, as long as you are not posting exact dates. That will make a huge difference in whether you need to book early in the 11-month window to get what you want.

If you will need a Grand Villa (3BR), you will need to book as soon as the 11-month window opens just about anywhere, but the rest of it depends on approximately when you're going and which resort you want.
