Point rental - minimum point amount to book?

We have a trip coming up in early Dec where we are taking a short Disney Cruise during the week and are planning to stay for 2 nights prior to the cruise at a Disney resort. I was thinking maybe AKL for those nights and wanted to use David's... however their terms state a 44 point minimum to make a rental purchase. Is that a David's policy, or a policy set by DVC?

If it's David's, are they ever flexible on this? Or should I just see if I can rent from someone on this board?

At this late date I don't know if you will find any rooms available at any DVC resort for early December. Most units are booked between 10 and 11 month early. Unless you are looking for 2019.

It's David's policy.

Probably better off paying for a hotel room at the resort you want to stay at in December, like BillPA said booking anything will be highly unlikely.

It's a David's policy, but, as others have said: No room at the inn for early December 2018.

DVC rules require only that you reserve at least one night in any given room, including studios, so the 44 point rule is David's and I do not know his flexibility, if any, on the issue. As to whether you can get a DVC room for the two nights before that December 2018 cruise, be aware that currently all rooms at all WDW DVC resorts except SSR 1BRs are already booked full for those nights. The time you want happens to be THE highest DVC demand time of the year at WDW and you need to book 11 months out at many of the resorts (in fact for some of the rooms you need to book exactly at 8 a.m. 11 months out from date of arrival, when reservations first open, to have any chance at all) and by 7 months out usually little is left.
