I am confused. I am in the process of renting out some of my points so I can pay cash for our cruise, rather than use points for the cruise. So, I have a bunch of reservations out there. I called MS yesterday, and was trying to clean house a little bit and get some order to all the reservations. So I asked what my point balance was after all the reservations. I then did my own math, and came up with a 25 point difference. In my favor. MS is telling me I have 25 more points than I should have.

So, today, I made a list of exactly all my reservations and how much points each reservation is using, and then one by one, I took those points of the number of points I started with. Again, i came up with the same number as yesterday. So I called MS back today, and asked them to tell me waht THEY had for reservations. ( I am thinking I might of missed a reservation) as she was listing them, I was checking them off my list. Got them all, and there were no other reservation..so I asked if she was sure my balance was what she was telling me. She assured me that was my balance, yet, doint the math YET AGAIN, I still came up with my original number. The difference is 25 points. What can I do?

A couple of thoughts:

If you bought resale, is there any chance there were some banked points you weren't aware of?

If you have multiple contracts for multiple resorts, any chance one of your ressies required you to borrow points from the next year?
(eg, if you own at resort x and y, and made a ressie at resort x at 8 months out and were 25 points short, they would have borrowed 25 points for resort x rather than use 25 points from resort y).

This would make me very nervous. This likely means they used points that you didn't want them to by borrowing or some other undersireable option. Get a points accounting which should give you the entire info though they are a little hard to read. They are not nearly as difficult as they used to be now that they're divided up by use year.

It is possible that you had extra points either from a cancellation or if you bought resale. Good luck.

You should ask MS to either fax or mail you your point statement. There is usually an explanation and I would not count on these points being "free"

However, I did end up getting 3 or 6 pts last year because they reversed an error they made and these 3 or 6 pts mysteriously showed up in my account. I even asked for my pt stmt and asked MS about it. Never got a satisfactory answer. It could happen, but I doubt it will be for 25 pts. Good luck!!
