He said point requirements decrease in mid-August. That is because for WDW resorts, there are 5 seasons. Premier is the highest (Easter & Christmas), then Magic, Dream, Choice, Adventure is the lowest (January, September, Dec 1-14). The dates for each season are in the member guidebook. On August 16, point requirements for WDW DVC resorts shift from Magic season to Dream season. For a week in a studio at BCV, it goes from 134 points for August 1-15 down to 123 for August 16-31.
August is divided into Magic and Dream Seasons. September is Adventure Season, where the points are much lower.
There has not been a case where DVC has discounted points needed to make a reservation.
In 1996 there was a reallocation for OKW where some nights had the point requirements go up a few points and other nights went down a few points. The point charts have not changed since that time at any DVC resort.
Just to further clarify. DVC also charges points by the day as outlined in the points chart. People sometimes talk about getting one season price at a WDW resort even though their stay goes into a more expensive time period. This won't happen at DVC. If Day 1 is Magic Season and Day 2 is Adventure Season, you will pay for each individually.
