Point charts for Fort wilderness cabins

Do we know when the point charts will be coming out for the cabins in Fort wilderness? Are they going to become their own association like Riviera or will we be able to as resale owners use our points at fort wilderness cabins?

It would have to be its own association, or I personally think so, so it would likely have the restrictions like Riviera and VDH. I don't see anyway they can add it to an existing association given there isn't currently a DVC at Fort Wilderness (note: Wilderness Lodge is a different resort).

Makes sense

I'm very interested in seeing how they structure the points for the cabins. On one hand, the cabins sleep 6. However, they don't currently have a washer/dryer in the cabins. And considering that they have a relatively short time for themselves to put in the new cabins, I just don't see how they can add the plumbing necessary for each washer/dryer nor do I have confidence that the plumbing overall at the campground can handle the increased needs without spending some time on alterations. So that means fewer amenities than a 1 Bedroom.

The current cabins sleep 6. I would not expect the new cabins to do the same. Renderings make it clear this isn't just sprucing up the existing.

With the renderings, it actually looks like an easy build. You can get that cabin style prefab.

I thought Disney’s announcement said the cabins would sleep “6 adults.” I’ll look it up.

I agree that the new cabins will be prefab - the current ones are. Like @Simba's Mom i wonder whether they’ll be able to accommodate a washer/dryer or not. Based on discussions in the earlier FW Cabins thread they should be able to route drain lines from the new cabins to what’s present in the current concrete pads.

I think there will be a premium for sure factoring in the fact that they are "private" vs the 1 bedrooms. The only thing I see comparable to them is the treehouses at SSR. I am guessing something like those for points; maybe a bit less because not as large but an upcharge given that FW offers more "private" atmosphere (so not reducing point costs a ton).

The only issue would be can the sewer lines running through FW support additional sewer flow. There really wouldn't be an issue with connecting the cabins to the existing sewer line in the slab, they will just have pipes under the cabin and onsite they will add the "piping" to connect them.

I do suspect that FW can handle the additional sewer flow, not like the RVs there don't have washer and dryers in them (some of the expensive ones do) and the laundry rooms exists. Plus if they do a front load machine the actual water usage from them is extremely low so the impact to the sewer lines isn't too high. Though then again a washer/dryer in unit could lead to more usage overall, than the laundry rooms. But I'm not sure the plumbing under FW, has been updated ever? If not the main lines are likely what would need updating not every single branch off of it.

Yes, I have the same questions about the FW infrastructure. Seems like I remember issues with sewer service at the Poly bungalows initially.

Either way on the sleeps 6, what is there isn't going to be what goes there. So what gets hooked to the existing slab may vary and be able to support a W/D.

Probably not private hot tubs tho.

Our guide told us there was a sewer issue with Poly as a whole, which is why they didn’t do any traditional 1 and 2 bedrooms

Yes, but I think I remember some issues after the bungalows opened that required repairs of some kind. Not sure, though.

According to Mousesavers, the cheapest season, a room at the GF costs $794, the cheapest season for a FW cabin is $448.
I've compared hotel with cabin because the DVC studios tend to be (my opinion) overpriced to make look DVC a better deal.
Sure, they'll say the new cabins are better and they're working on the resort with the aim of classifying it as a Moderate-quasi-deluxe, but still the rack rates are almost half of the GF. It would be a big act of greed to price them higher than the point charts of the VGF.
I think they have the chance to market them as "book a 1BR for the points of a studio" and that value could justify selling DVC in a moderate resort at a similar price per point as Riviera or VDH.

Interesting prospect. Now I'm wondering-did the initial announcement say the cabins would still sleep 6 (as I remember, they could only if one was under 3 yo)? It would make sense to reconfigure the inside-maybe larger bath, larger bedroom (increased storage, maybe add a TV), stackable washer/dryer (?), cut capacity to 4. When did they say they might start accepting guests-early, mid, or late 2024? I have a reservation in early 2024-maybe I'll spend a day ECVing around FW. As a bird-watcher with binoculars, who'll notice what I'm really looking at.

The official announcement from DVC says sleeps up to 6 adults

Is there currently a door on the bedroom for privacy? or is it all one big open unit? I wonder how they will put it that way in the new one.

Yes but... the double bed and bunks are in the same room. So "privacy" may be a stretch if you need to use all 6 sleeping spaces. The other bed is a Murphy in the living space.

I think we can throw out any comparison to what is there now, honestly. They will be hauled away (and probably auctioned off for more than they are worth LOL) and replaced with a completely new product...
