Point booking question- Swapping for banked points

I have a question about our upcoming trip to BCV. We own two DVC contract and are going to BCV in October. I used some banked 2009 and some of my 2010 BCV points to book the trip. The question I have is can I exchange out the 2010 BCV point for my 2009 banked SSR point so that I am using all of my banked points? Will I have to rebook the trip, which I would not do, to do this or can they switch what points I used.

If you booked during the home resort period (11-7 months) then no, you cannot just exchange and it would take a cancellation and attempt to rebook. Otherwise that is circumventing the home resort priority.

If you booked at 7 months or less then yes, MS should be able to substitute the points.

Does the DVC website tell when we booked it I don't remember when I booked it

I booked 6 months out so I will call On Sunday to change the points they used they should have used my banked points and they didn't

Yes, they call is "redistributing" the points. I cancelled a reservation yesterday and after checking my account I see that I have 14 banked points 2009 back into my account, so today I need to call and have them redistributed. I have a 11 month reservation in Oct, so I can't use them there, but I have a 7 month reservation in November, so that is where I'll do the switch out.

I booked a BCV trip 11 months out. I also had some transfered BWV points in my account. I called at the 7 month window to reallocate these BWV points to my BCV reservation. MS would only let me reallocate the BWV points if there was availability.

If the exact same accommodations are available at 7 months, then you can switch the points without having to rebook. If the MS Adviser questions your request or says that it can't be done, ask to speak to a manager.

MS was correct in your case because your trip involved home resort priority and the points you wanted to use were not from that home resort. The OP's reservation did not involve home resort priority.
