Point and ahoot advice

If you can swing it, B&H Photo online is selling a Canon EOS-M kit for $300 (half off regular price) (a kit includes the camera body and a detachable lens so that you can purchase other lenses)

This is basically a DSLR camera in a point and shoot package. Bigger than an elph but still small and will take fantastic pictures compared to the Elph.

I plan to buy tomorrow with target deal. What should I buy?

I don't see any great point and shoot specific deals at Target. But if you are getting some additional savings on anything...
From what I can see from one store inventory, I'd look at:
Fuji F850EXR
Nikon s9500 (fwiw, the s9100 had a bad reliability issue but I haven't read of issues with the newer ones)
And there's the Elph 330

Above your price, and bulkier, there is a nice Black Friday deal on the Nikon D3200 DSLr 2 lens kit for $499

I'm still consider canon sx280.

Generally the top 3 travel zoom cameras (like the SX280) in most reviews are Canon, Panasonic and Sony. The Sony HX50 and Panasonic ZS30 (and even the slightly more affordable ZS25) all seem to be well above your price range. (Last years ZS20 was frequently in your price range)
I also think the top Fuji F900EXR looks quite compelling with hybrid phase detect AF..but also pricey.

Ended up with Panasonic dmc-zs19. Thanks for helping!

Cool! I think that's the same camera as the ZS20 without the GPS (I typically leave GPS turned off, it uses some battery). DPreview chose the ZS20 as their top travel zoom camera last year.
