With our heavy New England accents, to say pointsett-A, sounds like a breed of dog to me--Irish Sett-uh, Gordon Sett-uh, ...Point Sett-uh....

Funny you should ask...I just received one from a co-worker today and am trying to figure out how to keep it alive. I don't care for plants that aren't year round, I like seeing them die. Like the majority, I too pronounce it without the I.

Poinset-t-ya, is the way I pronounce it so yes, I do pronounce the I.

One of the properties my company manages is called Poinsettia Plaza so I hear it pronounced a lot and the majority do not pronounce the I.

I never pronounced the second I, either and just noticed everyone "over-pronouncing" it in the last few years. Ugh! It bothers me because I'm a fanatic about pronunciation but this time I REFUSE to change!

I have never heard anyone NOT pronouce the "I", so its weird to me to even think of saying it like that... Must be regional..
