Am planning a quick last minute trip to WDW, 3 nights. I got a great rate at POFQ ~~~ usually we stay deluxe, but I just couldn't pass this up. I've never tried either POFQ or POR. Been reading some of the past posts I can find on Port Orleans and looking at pictures. FQ looks very pretty. Please tell me what you like about it.

Also, what building? I do have a water view and am going to request 'river view' since I was thinking that would be quieter than a pool view room.

Thanks for your input :)

We stayed there last Sept on an adults only trip. We liked it because of the theming. Everything is fairly close together and easy to around. We had a king room in bldg 5 on the second floor right behind the bus stop. We never heard a thing and I am a very light sleeper. We did not try the bus system as we brought our own car. I have heard that bldg 7 is very secluded. HTH

We stayed at POFQ in October for our first anniversary and absolutely loved it. We have no kids, so we were hoping for somethign quaint and quient and that's exactly what we got. We had a king non-smoking room, on the 3rd floor in building 1 overlooking a courtyard and the river. It was very quiet and we never heard a peep from anyone. This building was one of the farthest from the main building/food court but it was never more than a 5 minute walk. We loved the smallness of the resort and highly recommend it. One thing I'd like to mention is that the river views aren't all they're cracked up to be. It's more like a small canal than a river really, and in my opinion the courtyard views are even more impressive. Be sure to try the begneits!

We stayed at POFQ in April/04. We were located in Building 6, 3rd floor, river view. We loved watching the boats from DTD. From our building it was a quick walk to the Food Court and bus stops. We also walked over to Riverside one evening. That probably took about 20 minutes.

The kids loved Doubloon Lagoon. :earsgirl: :earsboy:

We really enjoyed this resort! :sunny:

I still miss those begneits! :flower:

I stayed there on a solo trip in 2001 (Bldg. 5, top floor) and chose it again for DH and myself for our upcoming trip. I never heard anyone else and slept like a log!!! Each meal I chatted easily with other guests and felt totally comfortable at this resort.

The whole resort has a different feel than most others at Disney; nicely themed and not spread out which I really appreciate for those frequent refill mug trips to the food court.

And those beignets.........I'm eating them every day we're there! I also appreciated the fact that the busses stop there before Riverside and if full, just drive to their destinations.

The new room decor looks so romantic too!

You will enjoy if not adore this resort!

We stayed there in May of 2004 and loved the place! Like everyone says, it's small and I thought quaint, for whatever that is worth. We had a waterview room in building 1 and it was great. Mousekeeping wasn't as good as a deluxe I thought but is beautifully themed. And the boat to Downtown Disney was great. We used it a few times. The pool is nice and the short walk to POR is very nice. Let us know what you thought when you get back. Building 1 was nice. I thought I heard they just had preferred and non rooms now though...

Thanks everyone for your comments. I'm glad it's been mentioned that this resort is small and quaint ~~ makes me look forward even more to being there! It's interesting that there doesn't seem to be any one building which stands out as the "best" one. Guess I can't go wrong with any of them.
I don't often have a solo trip, but this was just spur of the moment to visit my CP daughter for a few days. She works at Epcot so I'll be spending lots of time there, I'm sure. :)

I can't wait to try the beignets; they sound so yummy.
