i'M JUST ABOUT TO BOOK pofq and i'm just wanting to know if its ok?? We stayed at CSR resort this year and thought it was a bit too big.

I have hear mixed reviews on POFQ so just was to make sure.

We are going to upgrade the free dining to include table service as well

It is a while since we stayed at POFQ, but I remember it being very nice.

It's a bit smaller than many Disney resorts, but the theming is very pleasant and the pool is excellent with the big Neptune (Triton?) slide.

Scat Cat's lounge is fairly small, but all the nicer because of it, I think. The foodcourt is a little garish with some huge masks (Mardi Gras theme) hanging from the roof.

I enjoyed walking through the grounds in the evening as they were beautifully lit (as are most things at Disney) and looked very pretty.

The boat ride to DTD is an added bonus.

I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay.

Kev

We stayed in POR last year,

The main restaurant is there rather than in the FQ. While the detailing is nice, we bothe felt that the hotel lacked a certain something. Quite big although it is well laid out. Food in the Boatwrights restaurant was a let down compared to the other DDP restaurants we ate in.

Overall, don't pay extra for a view as it is the standard US motel style blocks so you have a walkway outside your room. Yuo peobably won't be spending much time in your room anyway!

POFQ is a lovely resort and the only mod we would probably consider staying on again as it is nice and compact. The boat to DTD is nice and the pool area is very pleasant, nice and close to the food court for drinks refills :)

we went for dinner the first day we got to orlando to have a look around and it looks lovely but as we were spoiled with our wedding trip with a stay at the poly I was thinking shall we stay there but the budget is just not there for poly but I want to go back!

Think I will book it now

Thanks

http://www.portorleans.org Check out this great site and enjoy your stay and thanks Andre for setting up this unofficial site :thumbsup2
We are looking forward to our first stay at this resort next September:cloud9:

I have not stayed at POFQ however stayed at POR and thought POFQ looked lovely and it is a nice size and you can use the amenities at POR too.

great thread :thumbsup2

we are staying there for the first time next August and I've been wondering how good it is too... nice to hear some good reviews!

I'm just a little worried that we won't enjoy it as much as POP as we LOVED it there, shame we couldn't have got free dining there again :rolleyes1

We are there in July. I have found portorleans.org to be an excellent site for info on the hotel.:thumbsup2

I personally loved it at POFQ, it was compact and quite charming. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, however could see why some people wouldn't like the theming.

I give it a huge :thumbsup2

Any specific questions just ask. xx

We have stayed at both riverside and the french quarter. I personally prefer riverside as the main restaurant is there and it has the quiet pools scattered around. That being said both resorts are equally lovely - some really pretty places around the French quarter. Im sure you'll love it! :goodvibes

We did the French quarter two years back and Coronado Springs Resort this year.

We loved em both, they both have their good points.

The boat to down town is quite special as is the live music in the bar most nights. You can stroll up to Riverside in 20 mins or catch a boat up there if you wish.

Having eaten at nearly every outlet on property, I would say that the food court in POFQ is a good standard.

We would be happy to return to both properties.

We had two weeks there is May and absolutely loved it! Really beautiful, small, peaceful. My fave Disney resort that I have stayed at.

We are booked at Pop next year but if finances can be wrangled I will be changinng to FQ!!

Stayed at POFQ in January of this year. Really liked it. Compact and quiet. Motel style rooms but ok for us. We were on the ground floor in Block 5 which was only yards from the Boat Stop and we had a lovely view of the lake. We always got a wave from the crew and passengers :goodvibes

Nice walk to Riverside although we also found Boatwrights restaurant a bit disappointing. The Food Court in FQ was ok. Quite a selection of dishes and typical Food Court fare. Transport to the Parks was first class.

One downside, however. You cannot park outside of the room and, with cases, the car park can be a bit of a hike (depending where your room is of course). We asked Guest Services to deliver our luggage and it was there about 10 minutes after we got to the room.

We would certainly go back.

just booked!!!

we are so excited now we have finally booked it and we have only been back a week from our last trip!!

Yay, on booking again Sarah!! Get the most out of those APs.

We're staying at POFQ for most of our trip because we loved it there last time - it is beautiful and romantic because it is so small. It is also really quiet and nothing is far away, even in the furthest buildings. We never had any problems with bus services and mousekeeping was fantastic. Can't wait to go back!

Have stayed at pop, csr and pofq . Pofq is a lovely resort and you will have a great stay there. The problem with hotels is that its all subjective and what is important to you may not be important to others.

French Quarter is beautiful, we have stayed five times, it is compact and pretty, very relaxing. The boat ride to Downtown Disney is great. When we bought our DVC at Saratoga I thought that we wouldn't get to stay there again, but this year we are spending our first three nights there to save some points. I am so looking forward to being back there, wings, mozzarella bites and a pitcher of bud at the bar....

As far as I know the bar has stopped serving food or that is what we found in Dec 2006 and with all the cutbacks not sure they have started again.
