I simply adored our stay at POFQ. The theming, the ambiance, the whole shebang. I can't help but feel somewhat sad that the inspiration for the resort is simply gone (well, submerged anyway). Will it be that the closest thing we may ever get to Bourbon Street ever again will be this wonderful resort? I almost wish we had booked POFQ for out October honeymoon. :guilty:

We are currently booked to stay there in December and I was just thinking today how it may become a sad place now considering all that has happened. In fact I mentioned the resort to a friend today as we were talking about our trip and she commented on the irony of the resort's theme. I've never been to the real New Orleans but I thought the POFQ seemed like a fun theme, I'm not so sure anymore. Maybe I should consider a new resort? :confused3

Don't change your reservations just yet! I think we will all be amazed how New Orleans comes back from this--there's a lot of incredible people there with an amazing history--don't write it off just yet. I'm confident that this time next year people will be returning to that beautiful place, sipping their au laits and munching on beignets!
(God, I hope so!) :goodvibes

Please do not change your reservation. I have friends directly affected by this horrible storm and they would want you to go to POFQ and party for them.

'Nawlins will be back, you can't keep a good party town down, but it will be a slow painful process.

Keep the good thoughts and prayers coming. :sunny:

I had similar feelings last night. POFQ is our favorite Moderate Resort.

However, I agree with DisneyDotty.

It may take a while, however, I think NOLA will recover and flourish again.

Prayers continue.

See I thought just the oposite. I thought about changing my ressies so we COULD stay at POFQ...a show of solidarity I guess. Maybe DH and I will head over there and stroll along the river and think about better days ahead for NOLA.

:sunny: We picked this resort because we have been to New Orleans and loved it. They will recover and be back better than before :wizard: .

Jennasis - I'm thinking like you! We're booked for a quick weekend in October (have been wanting to try POFQ anyways), and I'm glad we are already booked to stay there. It will be bittersweet as our neighbors get themselves back on their feet.

The best thing we can do is to continue to pray - and support the Red Cross!

I know what you mean. It's especially hard for me right now. We are booked at FQ late September into early October and DD's (4) name is Katrina. It makes me sick to my stomach knowing the storm that devastated NO and other parts of the South share her name!

I am staying, I have an upcoming ressie there.

I think it will be great to stay there if not for the remberance of a great city that once was and will be again.

I have never been to the actual New Orleans but I would love to go one day if they rebuild. This will be a way for me to "see" it until then.

We are booked for late October into November. Like others have posted. We will not move. We will send donations to the appropriate charities and enjoy our stay in POFQ. They are also in our prayers.

I'm with you - I'm still going to POFQ for late October into November and no way would I think of cancelling! My thoughts and prayers are with the people in New Orleans.....and I know they will rebuild and be back better than ever - I hope one day to be lucky enough to visit the real French Quarter. :grouphug:

No way I would Cancel! We stood there and were actually checking out the morning of 9/11.We went back to bool another week, not knowing how long we would have to be there. IMO, to cancel is to say New Orleans would never recover. It will be back and better than ever! Have Faith!

I've never been to either but I'm planning to stay at POFQ next May/June so I certainly hope they don't change the theme. I feel for all who've lost so much and pray that they will bounce back.

This time last week we were in the middle of a wonderful stay at POFQ. I thought that if NO even remotely looked like Disney's version I would love it and decided our next adventurous vacation would be there. By Friday they were pretty certain where Katrina was headed but I had no idea what would happen. I am so sadded to think of all of those people without a home but I have faith that this historic city will once again be a great place to visit. As soon as they are up to opening their city up to visitors we will be there. In the mean time I think we have found our new favortie WDW resort.

I'm sorry about your situation. Hopefully your daughter is too young to know what is going on, but people can be mean sometimes with stupid comments. I think we will be staying there in December regardless, but I can't help but feel a little sad especially with all the loss of life in NO. Our prayers go out to all affected.

Thank you all for the wonderful comments about New Orleans!

I live in St. Tammany Parish - which is not that far from New Orleans (I live in Bush, LA). Our parish was devasted by this storm; the eastern part sustained a lot of water damage, and most of the parish has major wind and tree damage. Thankfully, my house did not receive major damage, a few roof shingles and lots of trees down on our property.

We are all working together to restore some sense of normalcy. Its been tough though.

Again, thanks for all your kind words. I have a trip planned for early October, but I'm not sure if we'll still be able to go. It just depends on how things are.

I hope you all have wonderful trips - and do stay at POFQ! It is such a beautiful hotel!!!

Wow, I never really thought about it! We just stayed at POFQ July 28-August 3 and had an AWESOME time! The resort was beautiful and provided my parents and I with 6 great nights of sleeping :) It's really starting to hit me though, with every minute on tv I watched about the hurricane. After living in the NYC area during 9/11 and experiencing/witnessing such tragic events, I can only imagine how on same level how in shock everyone is. I hope they can all revive the areas hit just like NYC did. It's never going to be 100% back to normal here in NYC, but the people here were strong and we have done our best to make it just as great as it was before. I know the same will happen down south and one day people will go back the best they can to their lives after these events.

Glad to hear that you have made it through with no major damage. Do you happen to know how we might give besides the Red Cross? I'm hoping that my job sets up a fund for all in New Orleans/Miss. area - last time that set up such a thing they matched us dollar for dollar.
