POFQ vs. POR

I've booked w/POFQ for August and wanted to know if anyone had stayed at POR and liked it better. I've noticed refurbishments have been done to both hotels. How is the pool @ POR? I've stayed @ POFQ before and the boys (12 & 9) enjoyed the pool but wanted to see if it would be worth the swap in hotel.

Can anyone give me any ideas on this? The site doesn't show the slide on the POR but the pool looks nice from what I see.

Since POR is larger, will the transportation be an issue in waiting times to the parks.

pofq has the one pool, too me it is more kiddie like...

POR has the main pool with water slide and also has quiet pools scattered between the buildings, which is a great option for wind down time...
por has a better food court IMHO more options and also has a sit down restaurant, lunch and dinner only. Very Good not great.
POR has the game room too, carriage rides, wonderful paths to walk, place for kids to fish, catch and release, playground, boats to rent etc etc...
and Also has BOB piano guy and he has a great free piano "show " for kids and adults alike.
You can use por or pofq pools, either walk the 5-7 minute lighted pathway or by boat. Both resorts of course have the boat/share to DTD which is a great ride and the kids will love it...plus you get to DTD to walk around, perhaps a meal at one of the many places, Trex, RainForest etc..
Both resorts are wonderful, for really little ones, I choose POFQ cause I just think it is smaller overall, kiddier pool as I said before, but otherwise I like POR for the great Xtras it has.
The buses have not been an issue for us, 25+ visits on property, but there are those that say it is an issue so I guess it is a matter of opinion. IMHO, if disney can safely and in under a 20 minute (as a general guideline) wait, get my family picked up and off to a park, well I am a HAPPY camper...and by the way the shopping at POR is also Bigger and better

The slide at POFQ is better than that at POR. That said, you can use both PO pools, regardless of which one you pick. In all the other categories, in my opinion, POR wins. The food court is one of the best on property, the quiet pools (and quiet hot tubs) are lovely at night, the scenery and shopping at POR are better. I've never had problems with buses at either resort. The boat ride to DTD stops at both resorts, but starts at POR (POR also has a lovely marina with a variety of boat rentals, and also carriage rides), and the boat ride is my favorite way to get to DTD. Personally, I would pick POR, especially since you can also enjoy the pool at POFQ.

I would pick POFQ. The grounds are beautiful, and the resort is very small. It only takes a couple of minutes to get from the bus stop to your room. You can enjoy all the amenities at POR, but have the closer rooms at POFQ. Also, POFQ never seems to be busy! It seems to be a quiet, romantic resort.

I would stay at POR since you already did POFQ. And as mentioned if you really end upmissing the old POFQ pool just walk over there and use it because you can. POR is our families fav WDW resort.

I love POFQ but they don't have preferred rooms anymore and you could end up with a room pretty far from the food court or bus. I know many people like POR better. I have stayed at both and both are great!

I prefer POR over POFQ and I've stayed at POFQ twice so far and POR 3 times.

I like the pool and the pool area better at POR. Plus there are quiet pools which POFQ doesn't have.

I like the food court better at POR - more space and there are a couple of different food choices. I hate, hate the decor in the POFQ food court.

I like the grounds around the resort at POR better. It's more lush. I also like the room decor better.

One plus for POFQ is the single bus stop and the other is the smaller resort size. But neither are enough for me to change resorts from POR.

We too had stayed at POR and just tried POFQ in April. Still Love POR but given the choice, after having stayed at both it would be POFQ in the future. The resort seemed to have a more relaxed feel. They had outside movies for the kids and party games around the pool in the afternoon. POR had this too but for some reason we liked the POFQ better. We stayed in building 5 and it was close to everything. Maybe this is the reason we liked it better as we stayed in building 36 at POR and it was far from everthing.

For kids, I would pick POR. I have stayed at both. If just my dh and I were going, I would pick POFQ. Either is great, love them both.

Just curious....how is the pofq slide better at pofq? I think thats a matter of opinion. I personally think the POR slide is better. ESP for a 12 & 9 yr old. They definitely might find the slide at pofq too babyish. The slide at POR is much longer than pofq, which might be more appealing to a 12 & 9 yr old. My 12 yr old loooved the por slide.

I agree with the two posts above. we love por. i find it prettier, the grounds are more lush and gorgeous. we personally didnt like the appearance of pofq at all. didnt appeal to us. i love all the extras that por has, as mentioned by the pp. The bike rentals, the restaurant, Ye haw bob, arcade, better food court, etc. POR gets my vote for sure.

We like POR, but we love POFQ. POFQ is much smaller in size compared to any of the other moderates and we like the theme better. The really cool part about POR and POFQ is that they are sister resorts therefore they share the same amenities so if you are staying at one and use the other's pool, then go right ahead. However, even though I hate to say it, I would suggest going to POR since you have already stayed at POFQ before...I am one for trying each of the resorts at least once....they are all so unique and charming in their own way. Have a wonderful trip, and good luck deciding....you really can't go wrong with either places

I stayed at both.. POR first, and I fell in love with it. The following year, I stayed at POFQ and fell even more in love with that resort, and its now become my favorite resort. POR is more family friendly because of the pools, spread out grounds, amenities and the food court there is better than FQ. It was just my mom and I when I stayed at POFQ, so it was perfect for us. Smaller in size, so very convenient to get anywhere at the resort. I do really love both, so I do not think you can go wrong with either. The boat to DTD is so so nice also.
