Hi, we're staying at the POFQ and I read that you can get a boat to downtown disney. Is it worth it? Or is it quicker by the bus or car? Thanks :-)

We love the boat ride to DTD. It is pleasant, you feel a breeze, and you certainly aren't going to stand! Honestly, it is a nice boat ride, but it's not a fast moving boat- so if you're in a hurry, maybe take the bus....

We always take the boat. It's a very pleasant float either way, and if it's hot, sometimes we go in May or October, it seems cooler. Hate having to stop at PI with the bus, but overall the bus is faster....depending on how long you have to wait for it. After 4 I think, the boat is every 10 minutes.

We really enjoy taking the boats. It does take a little longer than the buses, but as a PP said you will never stand on the boat. And with the hectic pace of hurrying from ride to show to ride at the parks, we like to sit back and relax for the ride to DTD.

Here's the sign for the boats at POFQ.

The car would be the quickest. The bus is quicker than the boat (unless you have to wait along time for the bus). I find the boat to be the most enjoyable and relaxing way to get to DTD. I usually take the boat one way, and the bus the other way.

The boat ride is nice. It is very relaxing to return on the boat, the views are pretty.

We usually take the boat but if there is bad weather they will stop
the boat shuttle until weather improves. Then you would have to
take the bus which is not really that bad since POFQ is very close to
DTD.

I would definitley take the boat! It only takes about 10-15 mins at the most. You would really only save 5 mins or so on the bus and with a car finding a parking spot can be a pain. So for the extra 5 mins I would say take the boat and enjoy the nice relaxing ride!!

We were at POR last week. The boat ride is very relaxing and you can take some pictures of ducks in the waters and other nice views. When you consider you have to wait on the buses I think the boat ride is faster. It leaves every 10 minutes.

Where does the boat stop in downtown Disney? How far from DisneyQuest and World of Disney?

Thank you

We took the boat last time. It's a nice calm ride if you're not in a rush. The only thing that bothered me was that it took forever to get on the boat from FQ. I think they load it up each time at POR so there was barely any room each time it came by. I say take the boat but only if you're not in a rush.

Id take the boat! It was also fun to catch a glimpse of the Treehosue Villa's,,, I had never ever heard of them until we floated by =)

The DTD dock for the POR/POFQ boats is located next to Captain Jack's and the Rainforest Cafe in the Marketplace section. The walk to World of Disney doesn't take very long at all, maybe 5 minutes, and thats with arthritic legs.

The walk to DQ takes quite an additional 10-15 minutes depending on your walking habits and speed. But if this concerns you DTD has three docks (Marketplace, Pleasure Island, and Westside) and there are boats that do nothing but make the circuit of those docks. The DTD boats travel counter-clockwise, so the DTD boat you catch at Marketplace will stop next at Westside, which is where Disneyquest is located. The stop after that, Pleasure Island, will put you close to Raglan Road Restaurant. The DTD boat dock at Marketplace is the same one you use when you arrive from POR/POFQ, just a different line.

Was it you who was at POFQ last April/May same as us?

Yes, I second the boat problems. At one time we waited forever and a day for a boat, and they were backed up at POR as well. The CM/captain left seats open for POFQ folks when he did the POR pick-up to try and make it more fair. He let some additional POR people on because they said they were going to get off at POFQ. Of course, when they got to POFQ, they refused to get off and there was no room for any of us. :sad2: That's one of the very few sour memories from my trip.

It very well could have been us seeing as we were there on the same exact dates as you (4/25-5/1). Too funny!

We love the boat ride, too. So peaceful and a fun way to get there...:goodvibes

Another vote for the boat! When I went in January, I had no problems getting on the boat at FQ. I think it all comes down to the time of the year and the crowds.
