I hear everyone talking about things they request. What should I request for POFQ? We have never been there, so I wouldn't know what to request. Any suggestions?

Okay i havent stayed there yet but we are leaving in december for our trip and i have heard that no matter which building you stay in the are all close to everything because its such a small resort. I remember reading to say you dont want building 7 or 1 because they are the furthest so that was my only request for buildings. I also heard the corner rooms are nice because you will have two windows, But we didnt request that. Good luck

It really depends on what you like/want. Some people like to be close to the pool, we don't! Some folks like peace and quiet. Some want to be close to the parking lot, some the bus stop. Some like to be closer to POR. Some prefer bottom floor, we prefer upper.

Our favorite is actually building 7, top floor, facing courtyard! 6 and 4 would meet our needs as well. So, to each their own. Our kids are teenagers, so our needs are different than someone with babies or toddlers. We drive our car too. Just request what you want to be near, not a particular room.

Enjoy POFQ, you really can't go wrong! And if you don't like where they put you, go back and ask for a change. We did this the first time we stayed there and they had us by the pool. Switched to 7.

Your ideas are very helpful. :thumbsup2 Can I ask why you like Bldg 7? I hear a lot of people say they don't like blgs 7 or 1 because they are furthest from everything -- maybe that is why you do like it? ;)

If I say I want to be close to the pool, am I then very far away from the lobby, gift shops, and bus pick-up? I think we would just like a nice view :cool2: - any ideas of where that would be?

Also, since we are arriving in the early evening, is all this moot, and we will just get what's left? :sad1:

The resort is very compact. You aren't far from the food court or buses or the pool wherever your room is.

We only requested a quiet room because our daughter needed to nap and go to bed early. We were put on the back side of the building next to the main building. It was perfect. The front side of that same building had everyone walking past their rooms on their way anyplace.

The rooms near the river were really nice too but I wouldn't have paid extra for a water view. We walked there several times a day anyway and sat on benches and near fountains, it wasn't worth paying more for a view.

I wouldn't pay for a water view here. While they are quiet, they generally are the farthest away from everything. Which means 2 more minutes, not the worst at any Disney resort. I stayed in building 3 last time and loved that. I had orginally requested a view of the fountain and had received it at check in. I was on the first floor, but changed rooms because I prefer to be on the top floor. We were still in building 3. I loved that location. It was close to the main building. Building 4 is the closest to the main building and food court, which are important to me. I don't care to be close to the pool, I don't want the noise they produce.

We like the quiet and the courtyard view there is nice and pretty. Could see the horse and buggy go by if we looked out our window. I requested quiet area, top floor, courtyard, and was happy with this placement. We also enjoyed Bld. 4 with a similar placement. I should check our map and see where that one was, can't really remember exactly. I didn't want by the pool or right by a parking lot for noise issues. There are some locations where just about everyone in the resort goes by! We like to be out of the way. ;)

Like the previous poster said, nothing is very far away at this resort and we enjoy the short stroll to the food court. Nothing to it really. We also walk to POR some evenings for fun.

We will be going back in Nov. and I already had them note the same requests. I won't hesitate to go back though if our location is in a loud or busy area. Some love that though!

If you have a standard view, just have them note "courtyard" or "nice, pretty" view I suppose.

We just got home from Riverside Tuesday night and went to FQ for beignet's twice! :)

We stayed there in 2007, and had a great room location! We were in building 5, third floor, and a lovely view of a courtyard. It was very quiet. We are going to stay at POFQ again in 2009, and I will be requesting that. Have fun! It is a terrific resort!

Do you know what your room # was? We stayed in building 5, third floor, courtyard view & we were in room 5327. We loved it!! Also requested bldg 3, 3rd floor for next month!!:cool1:

Are there elevators at POFQ?

I think that is where I want to stay with our (then) 2.5 year old twins but am concerned about hauling 2 strollers up and down the stairs? Should we request a ground level (never my first choice)?

I would strongly suggest that you DO request a ground floor room. The elevators are at one end of the buildings, not in the center. The entire resorts is very quiet so I highly doubt you would here anything from outside. If you really want a higher floor, then ask to be near the elevator.

We had a room in building 5 that was facing the pool and right across from the food court. Once we were inside the room we didn't hear anything. We totally loved this location and would ask for it again. We went 2 months after the resorts went nonsmoking so we requested building 3 or 5 that were always nonsmoking.

I agree that all locations are very close to the food court, buses and pool. If you have a car some of the buildings are closer to the parking lot.

POFQ was always my 'dream' resort' and I finally got to stay there. It did not fail my expectations and still remains my 'dream resort'. I've stayed at other Disney resorts but this has so far been the best. I can't wait to return.

We stayed in Building 5 on the second floor in the center building, the first room after going up the stairs facing the courtyard. It was so great, I requested the same spot for our Nov. trip back. I literally could walk out of my room door, take a left, then take another immediate left(corner room) walk about 60 feet to the stairs down, walk across the little "street" into the laundry room. We were in about as center of the resort as we could possibly be. Only steps from the food court and even closer to the water taxi dock and pool.:thumbsup2

We are staying at POFQ in a few weeks and I cant wait... we havent made any special room requests but I have thought about asking for a ground floor room... just for easy acess... :) no stairs or elevators to worry about but then I think - oh we will just take luck of the draw and not stress about weather our requests are met... :) the resort sounds wonderful and we cant WAIT!!!!!!!!

We are going in Oct. and I have requested bldg 2 or 5 (based on what I have read in the books :confused3), river view - we are wanting a really quite location (ds has mild sensory issues) and also wanted a nice view so he/we could look out our window (which ds loves to do) and look at the river (very relaxing for him). I don't care so much about being close to everything as much as the quietness/relaxing aspect of it. Anyone know if these bldgs will work for what we are wanting?

Building 5 sounds like the perfect spot for us!! We are a party of 9 with 6 kids in tow!! We'll have 2 strollers and I have arthritis that affects my feet and knees pretty severe when walking so much. So I have already requested a downstairs room for those reasons.

We have also booked a water view and I'm hoping for a river view!! I think being in the end building in building 5 on the corner would be ideal!!! It would be somewhat quiet from the pool and I would assume have a great view of the river as well. We also like to relax outside once in a while in the evenings or early morning before heading out, so having access to benches close by would be good also.

Besides the double bed size and no outside patios, this place sounds perfect!!!

We're scheduled to stay there in September and I'm so happy to read all of these positive reviews!!!:thumbsup2

Hi
We'll be there in August and I requested bldg. 4, then 5, ground floor. My DGD (5) hates elevators, since we got stuck in one, and I didn't want steps. I can't wait!!

I'm re-thinking the water veiw plan. It's going to cost an additional $500.00 for our length of stay to have the water view. And, without a porch or balcony I doubt I'm really going to enjoy the view anyway - unless I make a point to stand at the window each day.

So maye we'll save the cost and take our chances with just whatever view they give us.:confused3

I still think building 5 would be nice - probably the most out of the way if you get a room on the river side of the building. (But then that would probably be a water view room huh?)

I don't want a room with a heavily used walkway - you know the ones that go from one place to another quickly and EVERYONE in the resort uses that path to get from point A to point B?:sad2:

I've heard it's quiet, but I'm sure if people were walking by the door laughing and talking loud you would certainly hear it inside the room. So I'll need to look at the map again and choose the buildings that I think would have the least amount of traffic and hope we get it!!

By the way, for those who have stayed here before, what pathway do most people use to get to the marina for the boat?? What building(s) do they walk by??

Thanks for all the input!!:thumbsup2

We were on the ground floor of building 6 facing the river in 2005 - thought it was great, not loud at all, foot traffic was across the lawn and never a problem. What was really nice with that location was that we could look out the window and see when the boat was approaching - which I am sure is true of many rooms facing the river - but something you may want to keep in mind. We are heading back to POFQ this September after underwhelming stays at POR and Coronado Springs in 2006, 2007 respectively.
