This was our second stay at POFQ. Our first was in December 1999 for our very first trip. That first trip was absolutely wonderful so we knew that could be a tough act to follow.
We checked in around noon on Saturday, Nov 24th. I had maybe a 5 minute wait to check-in while DH and the kids colored in the area by the TV. A CM was quickly there to welcome us to the resort and to assure us that it would not be a long wait. He and all of the CMs we encountered were very nice. Check in was a breeze – probably the fastest check in I have ever had at any of the resorts. A nice bonus was that our room was already ready for us.
I didn’t make any kind of room requests and we were given room #1112 on the parking lot side of Building #1. Building #1 is one of the farthest from the main building, food court, pool, etc.. but it was really a nice pleasant walk. I love that POFQ is so much more compact than the other mods. At first I was a bit disappointed that we didn’t have a courtyard view but the close access to the parking lots was great. We loved being just steps from our car and even though it was a parking lot view the landscaping was still wonderful. Being in Building #1 meant a bit more walking but the resort is just so beautiful that I began to look at it as a very positive thing because I felt like I got to experience more of the resort on those little walks.
The room was clean and Mousekeeping did a great job for us. We did get a towel animal one day (the cutest elephant to match one of DS’s toy elephants in the room) and other days the stuffed animal army my kids travel with was playfully arranged. The kids loved it and it made coming “home” at the end of the day more exciting.
We ate at the food court a few times and had decent experiences. It seems busiest around 7 PM in the evening and around 8 in the morning. At those times the lines did seem to build up but they moved fairly quickly. There are much fewer choices at the POFQ food court compared to the other mods/values but we still found enough to keep us all fed. Plus they have those yummy beignets!
The pool area is very nice and the kids took advantage of the nice weather a few times. It is well themed and the sea serpent slide was a huge hit with the kids.
We did use the boat to DTD a few a times and it is a nice transportation option. The boat ride over is maybe 15 minutes but it is a nice change of pace from our car and the busses. We only rode the busses a few times but we didn’t encounter any problems with them. They do get crowded since you share with POR but being the first pickup and drop off is a nice perk for POFQ guests.
Overall we loved POFQ for the second time. I have a real fondness for the resort since we stayed there for our first trip and I am very happy to report that it is still just as great as ever. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone and we know we will return again in the future.
If anyone has any questions I would be happy to answer them if I can.
