This was our second stay at POFQ. Our first was in December 1999 for our very first trip. That first trip was absolutely wonderful so we knew that could be a tough act to follow.

We checked in around noon on Saturday, Nov 24th. I had maybe a 5 minute wait to check-in while DH and the kids colored in the area by the TV. A CM was quickly there to welcome us to the resort and to assure us that it would not be a long wait. He and all of the CMs we encountered were very nice. Check in was a breeze – probably the fastest check in I have ever had at any of the resorts. A nice bonus was that our room was already ready for us.

I didn’t make any kind of room requests and we were given room #1112 on the parking lot side of Building #1. Building #1 is one of the farthest from the main building, food court, pool, etc.. but it was really a nice pleasant walk. I love that POFQ is so much more compact than the other mods. At first I was a bit disappointed that we didn’t have a courtyard view but the close access to the parking lots was great. We loved being just steps from our car and even though it was a parking lot view the landscaping was still wonderful. Being in Building #1 meant a bit more walking but the resort is just so beautiful that I began to look at it as a very positive thing because I felt like I got to experience more of the resort on those little walks.

The room was clean and Mousekeeping did a great job for us. We did get a towel animal one day (the cutest elephant to match one of DS’s toy elephants in the room) and other days the stuffed animal army my kids travel with was playfully arranged. The kids loved it and it made coming “home” at the end of the day more exciting.

We ate at the food court a few times and had decent experiences. It seems busiest around 7 PM in the evening and around 8 in the morning. At those times the lines did seem to build up but they moved fairly quickly. There are much fewer choices at the POFQ food court compared to the other mods/values but we still found enough to keep us all fed. Plus they have those yummy beignets!

The pool area is very nice and the kids took advantage of the nice weather a few times. It is well themed and the sea serpent slide was a huge hit with the kids.

We did use the boat to DTD a few a times and it is a nice transportation option. The boat ride over is maybe 15 minutes but it is a nice change of pace from our car and the busses. We only rode the busses a few times but we didn’t encounter any problems with them. They do get crowded since you share with POR but being the first pickup and drop off is a nice perk for POFQ guests.

Overall we loved POFQ for the second time. I have a real fondness for the resort since we stayed there for our first trip and I am very happy to report that it is still just as great as ever. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone and we know we will return again in the future.

If anyone has any questions I would be happy to answer them if I can.

Thank you so much for your review!!! We check into the POFQ in 19 days (not that we're counting...LOL) and it's nice to hear such wonderful thins from someone who has been there so recently. Thanks again and it sounds like you all had a great trip :)

Take Care!!! :grouphug:

Thanks for the review. We are checking into POFQ this Saturday and it will be our second time staying there too!

Good of you to post about the French Quarter. It's my favorite resort at WDW, and I'm looking forward to checking in there very soon; this Sunday as a matter of fact ... the 9th of Dec., to begin my annual solo visit to WDW. By the way, this will be my sixth stay at the French Quarter in a row.

The other resorts I've visited are listed below, but POFQ beats 'em all in my not so humble opinion.

:wizard: Karnak.

so glad to hear it! (Two! Two more days!)

Thanks for the review!
DH & I check in there the end of January.

Do we always have a soft spot for our 1st WDW resort? :goodvibes
I get the warm fuzzies when we do our OOP days at CBR :cloud9:

Thanks for the Good Review of POFQ.
We won't be there until Sept. 2008 but
am looking forward to staying there.
Glad to hear good reviews because I've been
reading some negatives and starting to worry.
Glad you had a Wonderful Stay!!

I thought of one question to ask you.
Being in Building #1 was it closer to POR?
we will be staying at POFQ but may be eating at
POR a few times and wondered about how far of a walk it was?

I have stayed in Bldg. 7 twice now and I feel the same way. It is a lovely walk to and from the room, and I really enjoyed it. Plus I felt removed from the hustle and bustle, which was quite nice!

Becka,

I think we are going to upgrade to POFQ. I couldn't decide between the FQ and RS but I like the fact that the FQ is smaller and is the first pick-up/drop off for the resort buses. I'm thinking of requesting buildings 2 or 5.

Thanks for the great reviews! ( I loved your dining review also!) You really helped me make up my mind!

Actually Bldg. #1 is the farther from POR but even at that it is maybe an additional 3-4 minute walk from one end of the resort to the other along the walking path. We didn't make the walk over to POR but I think it is around 15 minutes or so and it looked like it would be a very nice walk.

Becka,
We were there Nov 25-Dec 2 too. We LOVED POFQ!! We lucked out and got building #2! We arrived at 9am and they had a room ready! Very clean, quiet and relaxing. We WILL be back! We were originally booked at WL but switched to POFQ to save $1000. We went to WL just to see what we were missing and I really wasn't that impressed. We have a Great bear lodge not to far fron us and it kind of reminded me of that. And it was very noisey. I thought you'd be able to sit and relax but the fireplace but there was way too much traffic for that. I'm very glad we switched!

Glad to hear you had another good experience at POFQ- we might be trying it out for our next trip....we had planned to stay there last summer and splurged for the WL.... but I still love the moderates Food courts.

Another great review! Really enjoyed reading your food and resort reviews!:thumbsup2

Thank you for the review. We always stay at POR, but come December 24, we are staying at POFQ for a change.

We'll be there from the 26th through the 31st. Thanks for the review!! I'm at the point where I'm starting to get antsy. Anybody know any sleeping pills that will knock me out for 15 days??

Dh and I love the FQ (were there twice this year) and will be returning for 9 days Sept. '08. We always request bldg. #2. We have found is you request bldg #2 the view from your room is always great. We have always booked a standard room and either get a view of the river, pool or fountain courtyard.

PS....if you get a chance, stop in the Scat Cat lounge and soak up the music, with Elliot Dyson some evening. He's there Wed-Sat. & young and old love him.
