Trying to decide whether to go value or moderate... Any major differences between these two resorts. The last two posts on trip advisor on POFQ are making me think the xtra 50/night is not worth it. Does POP have a slide at any of the pools or a jacuzzi?

 have stayed at all stars and port orleans prefered all stars port orleANS WAS nice but for the extra money you didnt get a bigger room so this time we are going pop century march 11th here we come 2 whole weeks :cloud9:

Welcome to the DIS, Reimanc!

I am a big fan of the POFQ. The rooms there will be bigger than the ones at POP, and you'll get two sinks in the vanity area instead of one, which can help speed things up in the morning when you have four people. There is also a privacy curtain between the bed area and the vanity area at the POFQ, so you could have one person in the shower, one getting dressed in the vanity area, and everyone else in the bed area. The POFQ now comes equipped with fridges in the rooms, so you could also save some money by getting breakfast items, water, and snacks.

Pop does not have slides at the pools. I can't recall off the top of my head if they have jacuzzis or not. Pop is a nice, basic resort. I stayed there in October, and would stay there again if the POFQ wasn't available.

Thanks Karen, I think that helps me decide for sure on the POFQ. The kids want a slide and I think we can also use the pool at Riverside. Hopefully, the weather will be great at the end of April.

Thanks TLinden 16 for all of your helpful info. I am also trying to decide between the two. we are 3, 2 adults ,1 12 yr dd. This will be our first time onsite and are very excited

Heres my vote for POFQ having just returned last weekend and already planning our stay there next year. I found it peaceful with families with older children staying there. I loked the "small" feel of the resort and we liked being the first bus stop (only one at POFQ - 4 at POR) picked up to go to the parks and most times (90%) being the first drop off returning from the parks.

My DH - who is not quite as addicted to WDW as I am - absolutely loved this resort (and he fell in love with CBR last year - chose to rebook POFQ for 2006). The boat to DTD or POR was delightful. My DD(6) spent half a day at the pool, hopped on the boat to DTD and did all our souvenier shopping in one trip. It was perfect (My DH and DS(9) went to MGM to ride RNRC - DD too short for ride and they thought it only fair they go without us so she won't be disappointed)

Hope my input helps...

I love POFQ - can't add anything more than has been said - but there would be no contet for me, definitely POFQ

We have stayed at the ALLSTARS 3x's now... The last time being the first night of our last trip (Feb.12th-19th). Weve stayed at the ALLSTARS sports & movies. We moved over to the POR Riverside for the remainder of our trip and let me tell you- I will NEVER stay in a value again. The POR Riverside is just gorgeous! The pool is awesome- My kids would have been happy spending their time there alone. It is a huge resort- really spread out. We stayed in Alligator Bayou building 27. Loved the boat transportation to DTD... Loved all the flora... We just LOVED it! Our experience with the values hasnt been bad... Obviously if it was we wouldnt have been there 3 times. HOWEVER- the last time was the worst of the 3 visits and now like I said after staying at a moderate- we will never go back to value. I would really like to try and stay at the Fort Wilderness Lodge next time but if we cant- I would stay at POR in a heart beat! I also have to comment on how much I liked the "dressing area" part of the sink/bathroom whatever you want to call it area. It had a nice privacy curtain which allowed me to come out of the shower/bathroom & finish up getting ready and not have to worry about how much I am showing to my boys! LMAO!-

Anyhow... If you can swing it- Id say go for the Port Orleans! Gorgeous!!!

I just made reservations and the 1st question I asked was if they had discounts available for PO-FQ during the time we are going. They did not, so that made up my mind for me. We are staying at Pop this time. If they had the discounts at PO-FQ, I would have DEFINITELY stayed there!

Thanks all, anyone eat at the restaurant at Riverside for Breakfast for a change of pace from the food court? Also, anyone use the pool at Riverside which I am reading is a short walk from FQ?

My boys LOVED it! The slide was awesome! Myself and DH rode it several times ourselves! We ate at the foodcourt once and ordered pizza to our room once. We didnt eat at Boatwrights but have heard good things about it. Food courts are convenient- our experience with the one at POR Riverside was very sllllloooooow service. Good food- $$$ but convenient. If I could recommend any restaraunt to you- eat at Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge! IT IS AWESOME!

Good Luck- Brigitte
