Hi everyone - I'm loving reading all of these threads. We will be in WDW from March 2 - 8th (ESPN weekend!). I believe that we are looking at staying at the POFQ - Anyone have likes/dislikes/room recommendations.

I'm really excited as this is the first time I've ever been to WDW. Not really sure what to expect...but know that I need good walking shoes. We'll be in FL the end of February but visiting family.

You can't really go wrong with POFQ - the place is so quaint and beautiful. The rooms are lovely - although I wish they had queen size beds - but I feel that way about all the mods. I love the pedestal sinks, and mardi gras bedspread. The resort is small so everything is within walking distance, the pool, the food court, the bus stop - etc. I recommend if you have a stroller or small child requesting a bottom floor room for convenience. Also - if you are like me and wake up the earliest I loved walking around the resort first thing in the morning and going by the river. It was so quite and peaceful and I got some great pictures. Also then you can swing by the food court for beingts to start out your day!

Have a great trip!

Thank you! No little kids coming with us! :) Just myself, my boyfriend, and his parents...getting up early for that walk around sounds great! Wish I could already be ther!!!

:)

Just got back from POFQ last week and LOVED it. Previous stay was at POP which we enjoyed as well. Bus service was great. We rarely shared stops or were last on, first off. The grounds are gorgeous. Everything is very close. Boat service to DTD makes travelling to other resorts for dinner very easy to do.

Only thing we missed vs. POP was the slush machine in the food court (my DD's only complaint the whole week!) Rooms felt huge compared to POP.

POFQ is our new Favorite when staying on our DVC points. The place was great Mousekeeping was great.

It's and easy walk over to POR for a sitdown dinner if you want or to use their pool. Quick boatride to DTD and the best is it's the first bus stop to and from the parks so you almost always get a seat going to the parks.

Is it necessary to have an adr for breakfast at Boatwrights or can you just turn up?

likes: smaller, compact size, short walk to por, nice landscaping, central location, boat ride to downtown disney, often the lst stop on the bus route shared with por, decent food court.
dislikes: only the mk has a dedicated fq only bus, no sit down restaurant.
rooms: i wouldnt pay the extra for the water view rooms, but the view is not half bad.

to answer paulaSB12's question about a ressie at boatrights, i would say it would depend on the size of your party and what time of year you will be there. a party of 2 can almost always get in. when we were at por in oct., some mornings the restaurant seemed empty, and others it seemed full. to ensure getting a table without a ps, i would arrive as soon as they opened. good luck!!

Great point about the rooms...not worth the money for water view.

I'd recommend building 4. It's a standard location, but very convenient to food court and pool.

POFQ is our new favorite, too. I still love CBR, but I now prefer POFQ. In addition to the fact that it's a lovely and charming place with a way-cool pool area for the little 'uns, it's POFQ's compact size/layout that I loved the best. I timed a walk from the farthest point (far corner of Building 1, by the river) to the door to the food court -- at a normal, non-rushing pace it took me 3 minutes 20 seconds. Outstanding!

We are POFQ lovers!!!!!!!! Loved everything. We were in BLDG 4 and it was great. Can't say enough about how much we enjoyed POFQ. It was a great part of our trip!

We will also be at POFQ in March - 3 - 11! This will be our third trip to WDW; we stayed at POR in 1997 (it was still Dixie Landings) and POFQ in 2003. We loved both resorts, but obviously preferred FQ. The grounds were in bloom and just beautiful when we were there last. Loved the food court and the boat to DTD. :thumbsup2

POFQ is a very nice moderate. We visited in Nov 2005 and were in building 7. We enjoyed having our car just a few steps from our rooms. However, at that time (don't know about now) the Disney busses used this parking lot as a "staging area". Early in the morning and again around park closing times, many busses were lining up awaiting dispatch, and unfortunately their engines are NOT quiet.

We love it also. The down side can be the outside hallways. Several years ago we were there and it was in the 20's. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

ALL of the moderate resorts and ALL of the Value Resorts have outside hallways. I just want to make sure the OP doesn't cross POFQ off her list because of this and choose another moderate, and then get disappointed by the outside hallways at that place.

Pros - Boat to DtD, small resort, less walking

Cons - shared transportation and no sit down restaurant. POR's food court will be closed during that time so they will be using the food court at POFQ.

Can anyone give me a little more info on the busses? That is, approx. transit time (your experiences) to MK, Epcot & AK? Also, how long is the boat ride to DTD? How often does the boat run to DTD?

I have been going back and forth between keeping our ressie at WL for Sept. 07, or moving to POFQ. We loved WL this past Sept., had a great experience there and loved the resort. BUT, I can't help but wonder if we would also love POFQ and have a great experience there, while saving about $700!!! Our primary concern is transportation - ease of getting to and from the parks, getting back easily for naptime (2 little ones), and easy tranport for ADR's.

Any additional input on transportation from those who have stayed at POFQ? Any and all comments welcome! THANKS! :thumbsup2

While we were there boat to DTD ran frequently, I dont remember waiting more than 10 minutes. I think officially, its every 20 minutes.

As far as the bus rides go, all the properties except AK were about 10 minutes. AK seemed like it took an eternity...probably 20 minutes...but then again AK is 20 minutes away from EVERYTHING. I usually end up standing most bus rides, so I'm pretty sensitive to ride times, especially at the end of the night. All rides were really good.

I agree with this. I paid for waterview and would not do this again. That was the only disappointment I had in the resort. Had I not paid extra, I would not have had one complaint for this lovely resort.

Any other input about transportation (or the resort in general) that anyone cares to add?? Still trying to decide whether to change resorts. TIA
