[Hi everyone! This is my first post here. We are going to Disney POFQ during the first week of June for 6 nights running over into the 2nd week of June. How are the crowds during this time? Some people say it's not too bad yet because it's still right before alot of the schools let out. Has anyone stayed during this time frame and what was your experience like? Also, what is with all the great codes I keep hearing about? I have a AAA rate of $132 a night, but it seems I could do better, any help would be GREAT!!! Thannks Everyone!!! ::MickeyMo :wizard:

I'll be there the second to last week of May! So we won't be too far off from each other...

I've stayed at WDW previously the last week of may and it wasn't too bad at all! The only real crowds we had were from Memorial Day weekend... You'll also notice a lot of school groups since it's the end of the school year and a lot of schools in that area go on end of the year trips (look for huge groups of children in matching t-shirts). While you'll never be without crowds at WDW, you're definitly going at a decent time. I could never go in mid-July or anything - I'd get too darn upset!

I've never stayed at POFQ before either, so I can't really help you out with any resort specifics.

Just got back from POFQ. I loved it. I have see better rates for that time, usually $99 per night, you might see if 1 annual pass purchase would help or not. Let me know if you have questions. Have fun planning

We have been to WDW the last week of May/ beginning of June. Crowds were manageable but I thought they were still heavy by mid-day. And it was plenty hot for me. The first weekend of June (I believe) is Gay and Lesbian weekend - not actually Disney sanctioned, it's more of an Orlando event. If that is something that concerns you, schedule around it. It might be more of a crowd factor than anything else. As for POFQ, we were there last October, right after the hurricanes. It was very uncrowded. I loved the theming and the music. It's a smaller resort and very easy to get around. Our room was 1st floor, near the pool, just as I requested. The pool is so-so, our favorite being Stormalong Bay at BC. The rooms are very nice but we found them to feel small (probably because our kids are growing and taking up more space themselves). I loved being able to hop on a boat and get to Downtown Disney so easily. The food court was fine. I brought a tray back to the room for my family's breakfast otherwise we ate elsewhere. One morning I went alone to the Polynesian for Tonga Toast. I couldn't get anyone else to get up and go with me but boy was it good!! :earsboy:

We have been at that time a couple times. The biggest thing was school groups, that we encountered. But that has been a number of years ago and schools have been changing schedules so it may be different now. The weather is hot and sometimes muggy so be prepared. Also, afternoon thunderstorms are the norm, so be sure to have a poncho and/or umbrella. Storms don't last a long time anywhere from 1/2 hour to an hour. We often hit a restaurant and waited it out there. Typically after it passes the parks are pretty cleared out. Might want to place a small hand towel in your back pack to take to wipe off the seats.

POFQ is our favorite moderate resort. Stayed there every year since it opened, when it was open. You are close to POR so you really have two food courts, and you can use all the pools at POR also. There is a fishing hole at Riverside where you can rent poles and bait to fish...Tom Sawyer poles. Fun for little ones. Catch and release.

There is only a sit down restaurant at Riverside but the food court at FQ is very adequate and offers lots of selection. The resort is the smallest of the moderates and most buildings are in great locations. Bldg 5 is closest to pool and food court...Bldg 4 and Bldg 6 have also been known as favorites.

The rooms were just redone last year so it is in good condition. Have fun! Questions, just post them. By the way, welcome to the Dis site! I'm sure you will find lots of great info here.

Thanks for all the info, we have already taken in the factor of the gay week, and have planned around it. It is running through the 4th and we will be arriving on the 5th. I don't have anything against anyone that is gay, so please don't anyone freak out, i am taking in the crowd factor with that week. Disney has said that gay week is the busiest week of the year, so that is why we are going to arrive after. I have school age children that get out of school May 24th. We can't go that week cause it will be Memorial Day week, then the next week is the gay week, so that is why we went with the week after. Anyway, thanks for all the info!
