This is our first time at POFQ.

We are staying in a standard view room. What suggestions do you have for room requests. Any buildings were should try to stay away from?

Tell me about the food court. Any specialties or "can't miss" items?

Thanks for the input.

POFQ is such a small resort that there really isn't a bad room. To date, we've stayed in buildings 1, 3, 6, and 7, and were never more than a 3-5 minute walk from the main building. It's been about 5 years since we last stayed at POFQ and the food court menu has changed since then so I can't comment on the current offerings, but you can view the menu here: http://www.portorleans.org/floatworks.php.

POFQ is a very small compact resort. I dont think that there is a bad room either, but if you want to be centrally located, ask for bldg 4 or 5.

While you are there, plan to take the water taxi to DS. It is a lovely means of transportation.

Buildings 1, 3, 4 and 7 offer standard rooms.
Buildings 3 and 4 are the most centrally located, but some people prefer building 7 for the closest walk to POR.

For can't miss food, the beignets of course...unless you live near NOLA and can get the real thing...they are among the best you can get more than 60 miles from Jackson Square.

Always wanted to try.... thanks for the encouragement

I stayed at POFQ February 2016 and was located in building 5, as close to the main food court/lobby as you could get. I had booked a king room and made the request to be close to the lobby (and first floor, but didn't get that). If possible, I would request to be near transportation, which will also put you right by the lobby. However, I believe the entire resort can fit in the length of Main Street in the Magic Kingdom. Nothing's a terribly long/far walk.

If you want to walk up to POR ask for 4 or 7 since they are closer than 1 or 3. As others have said it is such a compact resort nothing is that far. We have been in every building except 4 and always go up to POR to eat and/or use their pool. (Sister resorts so pool hopping between the 2 is allowed.) If your party has young children POFQ got a new splash area at the childrens' pool . The boat to DS is a big plus.

This is a wonderful resort! When booking ask for a corner room. You will have an extra window and your room will seem much larger. Feel free to ask for free beads at check in!
