POFQ - have you been recently?

Anyone who has been there - can you see the Epcot fireworks at night when you are at POFQ? Just curious :)

You can often hear the fireworks from POFQ and perhaps catch a very slight glimpse....if you look really hard ... but for the most part you can't see them from POFQ. We were at Riverside last November and then FQ for the 7 or 8 years prior and never could really see them. Hope that helps.

This is a great thread! I love all the positive comments!
We're staying 4/12-4/20. I can't wait! Will anyone
of you Dis'ners be down there at this time?

Hi Dcedwards and Crichton, Dh and myself will be at PO-FQ from Dec 1 to Dec 8th. Maybe we will see you there also. Are you going to MVMCP? We are going Dec 3rd and meeting at group at Chef Mickey's before. I will be wearing a lime green ribbon too. Hope you have fun. This is our first time staying at Po and we are really excited about it also! Patsy:)

Hi everyone - my girlfriends and I will be staying at the PO/FQ from 11/7 thru 11/12. We are going to the SSW and hope to do many more things throughout this vacation. I have stayed once before at "Dixie Landings" now called Riverside and enjoyed it very much. Now I can't wait to stay at FQ and after hearing about it from all of the prior posts, I am even more excited! I am so glad that it is a small resort because one of my girlfriends has cancer and tires out easily, so the short walks will be good for her. Another plus is the bus service, first on and first off. Like everyone else has said before, keep the posts coming. 23 Days and a wake up!! Woo Hoo!!

Hmmm... looks like several of you will be down there the first week in December! I'm so disappointed that we had to postpone our trip a week, as it would have been fun to meet a fellow DISer. Can you believe it, we postponed our vacation from Dec. 5-10 because there is a Patriots home game on the 8th that DH couldn't possibly miss. We'll be there Dec 13-17 instead. Anyone else??

teeheehee Fox&Hound, sounds like something my DH would do. My son on the other hand would want to change just so he wouldn't miss a TV program. Geesh! This thread is terrific. I hope it keeps going. You folks going at Christmas time are so lucky. We had to change our reservations to next May. First week, anyone going to be there then? I cannot wait to stay at PO/FQ. I think I'm starting to get obsessed. LoL

I found this thread just as I was about to call CRO and make a reservation for Feb. to stay at PO-FQ. From reading these posts, I know that I have picked the right resort! Does anyone have a bldg preference?

Does anyone have a bldg preference?

We enjoyed building 4. I have a recent trip report on the trip reports board if you're interested. :D

Our favorite building is 5 but we have stayed in 4 and 6, also....all of them are really nice...I don't think you can get a bad location at this resort.

Lots of POFQ people here in this thread gearing up to go! Anybody else been recently that can comment on the resort/weather/park crowds/etc??

Its very possible. We are going to request building 5...king room if its available. Already purchased water view.

DH &I stayed at POFQ for our honeymoon 11/13-11/18. Last trip we stayed at CBR. We found POFQ WAY to noisy. We were in room 4225 (building 4, 2nd floor). The toilet never worked right the whole time we were there, and we called on it several times. The room was pretty shabby. We could hear conversations in the room next to us at night, not to mention the babies crying. Bus service was terrible at the resort going to the park and at the parks going to the resort. Always huge lines and long waits, I felt so bad for the people on the Riverside because most of the time the bus was so full it just went to the park! Visually I just didn't get much out of it. After we got home we decided that if we stay at a moderate again, it'll be CBR!!

On the plus side, housekeeping was fantastic and the boat ride to Downtown Disney is a lot of fun. There are also horsedrawn carriages that go through the resort at night. The Foodcourt was pretty good too, though we didn't really eat there much.

Crowds at the parks while we were there were very managable and the weather was just unpredictable.

We were there one month ago, and boy do I ever miss it!

In answer to your questions:

1) How is the bus transportation? .Never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a bus, and it was rare that we had to wait that long.

2) How is the condition of the room?
The rooms were clean and neat. They were showing a bit of wear, but nothing really worth noting. The beds were comfortable.

3) New food court?
]COLOR=red]We loved the new food court. Good food and good selections. Plenty of seating , and a great big screen TV to keep the kiddies occupied. It was nicely decorated in keeping with the theming of the resort. It is our favorite food court of any of the moderate resorts! [/COLOR]

4) Overall service in regards to housekeeping, food court, front desk, etc?We found the service to be top notch from the bell hops, to the front desk, to the food court, to housekeeping. We had very friendly and efficient service in every aspect. Our rooms were clean by 4 pm everyday, which was fine with us... if you wish them to be done sooner, you will have to make a special request, as they do checkouts first. We had no complaints whatsoever, and wouldn't hesitate to return to this wonderful resort! :D

They hubby and I will be staying there from 2-7 to 2-11 to celebrate our anniversary. I am so happy to hear all the wonderful reviews!!

BTW, we found it to be extremely quiet. We were on the 3rd floor of building 3, with a garden view. Very convenient. Can't say if I heard the toilets at night, because I wear earplugs to drown out DH's snoring...lol!

Just returned from PO-FQ after our 11/13 -- 11/19 trip. We loved it! I didn't think it was too noisy at all. The only noise I did remember noticing was some cart noise outside the room occasionally.

The only complaint I had about the room was a mildewed (sp?) shower curtain liner and some peeling wallpaper in the bathroom. Other than that, the main room area was very nice -- bedspreads actually looked fairly new.

We were in building 4, floor 3 and had a view of a front courtyard. It was very nice! We loved the fact that we were close to everything -- food court, pool (although didn't use it since it was too cold), and bus stop.

We had great bus service! We always got a spot on the bus (occasionally standing room only, but most of the time sitting down). I thought it was a definite advantage to get picked up/dropped off before Riverside.

We loved the Food Court -- great selections for everyone (3 years through 75 years). DS (3) loved the big screen TV that always seemed to be playing Toy Story (1 or 2) -- I think I did see Bugs Life (and a couple others) once or twice too.

The theming was great too! I've never been to New Orleans, but my DM and DF have. They were along on this trip and said it definitely had that New Orleans feel to it! I loved the names of the streets (Cafe' Au Lait Way, Rue D' Baga, Cake Walk, etc.) Lots of fountains too -- which did end up costing us some money since DS had to throw a penny into them every time he went past!

Unfortunately, we didn't get to try out the pool because it was usually too cold. The couple days that were warm enough were days that were booked solid. We wore shorts and tshirts for 2 1/2 days and jeans/sweatshirts for the rest.

The crowds were very small -- I don't think we waited for anything for over 10 minutes. Also, there were a lot of characters out and about. Thankfully, as that was my son's favorite part! He had to run up and hug all of them (except Capt. Hook who is his favorite in pretend play -- but quite scary to him in real life!) We did get Hook to sign the autograph book though and after Mom went up to him, DS came closer too for a picture.

We also had good service everywhere: front desk, bellhops, food court, gift shop. Housekeeping was okay, nothing bad but not outstanding either -- we had a different maid than the other rooms in our party. And, unfortunately, we were the only room that didn't get any of the cool towel animals (even though we were the only room with a child in it!).

I would strongly recommend PO-FQ to anyone! It is especially nice after a long day at the park to be able to get off the bus and only walk 2 minutes to get to your room. I've heard that's not so in many of the other resorts. That, in itself, would make staying here worth it!
