We need information on the hc rooms at pofq. My wife has mobility issues and will need a wc, during our stay in 09. Any help will be deeply appreciated
As always, thank you for info, and if we can ehlp in anyway with info about WDW please ask!

What do you need to know about the rooms specifically? does she need a roll in shower or tub with grab bars? when you say she will need a wheelchair during your stay, are you bringing your own? if not I strongly suggest if she can use one that you rent an ECV to be delivered to your hotel from an outside vendor such those listed on here, I use Walkermobility.com myself.
otherwise rent a chair from one of these same sources but for the distances etc. if she can transfer at all then an ECV will save both of you a lot of wear and tear and give her more independence.
As for the room when you call to make your reservations for the room tell them exactly what it is you need, and they will see if they have any HC rooms available that meet your needs.

Check out the disABILITIES FAQs thread.
There is information about renting ECVs/wheelchairs from off-site and in the parks.
There is also a section about handicapped accessible homes, including a description of the different types of handicapped rooms.

There are two types of accessible rooms at POFQ- rooms that are considered "fully accessible" that have roll in showers and those that are accessible with tubs/rails only in the bathroom. If she needs to transfer and remain in her w/c, then she would probably be best with the roll in shower, however they do take up some of the space in the room as there are no larger rooms, only those that have had the larger bathroom installed for guests who need that type accommodation. If she is just using a w/c for distance but does not need grab bars, then you really don't need an accessible room just because of having a w/c or ECV. There are elevators at POFQ but you might want to request a room on the ground floor just to make maneuvering the chair a bit easier and more convenient. POFQ is a bit smaller and not so spread out, so getting around the grounds shouldn't be a challenge. I hope you have a great trip!---Kathy

I hope you find the handicapped rooms there to be as accomodating as i do. My hubby and i love it there.
