I spent this morning as I have the past three. Wandering around my kitchen at 5 am, drinking coffee out of my POFQ refillable mug, hoping someone, anyone, even the refrigerator, would hear my desperate plea six beignets please. Once again however, there was no smiling CM to help me get my fix. I decided perhaps it was time to begin writing our trip report, to help ease my beignetless sorrow.
Cast
Me DH age 33, my DW Debbie 43, DS Joshua 8, DD1 Jaina 3 AKA Gigi, and DD2 Jadyn 18 months AKA Peaches.
Prologue
Our family generally visits the world in Nov/Dec for the Christmas festivities and in May/June for Star Wars Weekends. In January I was wining to DW that our APs would expire two weeks before our May trip this year. She casually said, well if we can afford it, why not go again before then? After my heartrate got back below 150, I immediately made for the phone to check AP rates, remembering that POFQ would just be reopening. After about long ten minutes, two room ressies, five plane tickets, and four priority seatings I was back on the couch and in heaven. DW could not possibly understand how I could have possibly have made all of those arrangements in such a short amount of time. Heck, she didnt believe me until I showed here the Excel spreadsheet detailing ressie #s, PSs, EE days, and our itinerarys. That will teach here to make off of the cuff remarks about WDW vacations!
Day 1
Wednesday March 31st- I will not bore anyone with travel details other than we had a pleasant flight and our Tiffany driver was on time and very courteous. After the prerequisite grocery stop, we arrived at POFQ at about 8 pm. I originally planned to keep the trip a secret from the kids, telling them that we were going to the beach. DS however, caught a nasty stomach virus about a week before the trip and was really down in the dumps, so I asked him if going to WDW would make him feel better. He said, thats impossible Dad, and I said nothing impossible if it will make you feel better. He smiled for the first time in two days, and then threw up all over my bed. Oh well, at least he was smiling while projectile vomiting. I really did not think that was possible, but it is. We managed to keep DD one and two from finding out about the trip early. DD1 did not even believe us when we were driving through the gates of the resort. DD2 was just happy to get the hell out of her car seat, thank you very much!
Our rooms were ready of course, and were connecting as requested (thank you Mr/Ms Room Assigner!). After a quick dinner in the food court, we were off to bed. I must say that both our rooms and the rest of the entire property look fantastic since the rehab. The CMs were all even more courteous and enthusiastic than I expected. My wife and I had stayed here sans kids in 2001, but honestly it was hard to compare the property now versus then, as we were here during 9-11 and that awful day seems to be all either of us really remembers from that trip. A quick pass through the bathtubs for all three kids, and off to bed.
