POFQ and POR in new Test!

No, that's normal. Not saying you won't be chosen, but your experience is the same as it has been.

Of course, almost every time we have set up charging or a pin it's never saved and we have to do it over. So I am not holding out hope that this will be seamless. Though I also do think it's what their intentions were. Just have no faith they are ready for it. :)

Thanks for the reply. I assumed it was normal but then when I saw this thread I wasn't sure.

I doubt they would contact you to say they couldn't grant a room request since a request is not a guarantee.

I understand that completely, but a lot of people will and do freak and want to argue the point when room requests are not granted. A lot of people will figure that because they don't have to see you face to face that they will work "less hard" to grant room requests.

People make assumptions and people will want to argue. It'll be interesting as they test it to see how many people that DON'T get room requests show up at front desk peeved.

I'm thinking that they will probably try to honour requests as they normally do, but I bet they're hoping that people who don't receive their requests will be less likely to complain about it.

We will be there during test. I hope it works as then we can go to room after a long day of traveling and getting in late.

This I think is where this could really help... people arriving at odd (especially late) times that REALLY just want to get to their rooms.

I think this would be cool if it works out. The only thing is sometimes when you check in there is a room available earlier than 3pm. Do you also get a text that day when the room is ready?

So where do you get your parking pass and will the packet of info they give you be in the room already? While Mousekeeping is good it is hit or miss if there are the flyers and resort info in the room each time.

In the link it says to stop over at the desk to pick up a parking pass at your convenience, so I guess no worries (so far) I hope it all goes well because we are the type who like to get our bags to our room a.s.a.p. (we drive)and hit a park. I do wonder how this will affect housekeeping tho? For those worried about preferences being met:

The room number will normally be confirmed and a text sent about one hour before your stated arrival time, but it could be as close as 15 minutes if a suitable room is not ready early enough. If a room is still not ready by then, a message will be sent advising of the delay but your band will still be activated for all the other features but obviously not for door-key access yet. A followup message will confirm the room number later, and you will be able to use the door-key feature after that.

Looks like 3 other resorts will be participating:

There will be three other Walt Disney World resort hotels taking part in the trial at the same time.

I'm all for this!:thumbsup2

This would be cool. When I was there in November, the CM at the front desk of CSR took a good 10 minutes to explain magic bands to me. I wanted to bang my head against the counter. I appreciated his thoroughness, but considering I had done online check-in and customized my bands at home, I had a good idea of how they worked. Seemed like all CMs at the front desk were giving this long winded explanation, which made check-in VERY slow. I realize it was newer then and they were probably required to do this, but to have this bypass option for those of us who already know all that would be great.

It states in there that if you need maps or parking passes, you still have to go to the front desk to get those items.

Welcome Packs will not (for the trial at least) be sent to rooms in advance. If you need one - for example for a map, parking pass or other welcome collateral - you'll need to pop by the Front Desk at your convenience to pick one up.

lol-not to go OT but this is a prefect example of how DH and I would hit a fork in the road. I would have done the research, explained to DH and family. However if at arrival the CM was giving their explanation, DH would be insistent upon hearing the "official" one over mine :rolleyes2 Matter of fact one trip when they were teens I suggested the kids change into their swim suits under their clothes so that they could swim while DH crossed every t and dotted every i :rotfl: they were pretty happy I suggested it. I told DH that he should just fly in several hours after we arrive so he can just do exactly what this new program seems to be doing~just show up after I have checked us in.

Hope it's more reliable then their photopass system. It honestly seems like so much is riding on assuming that the technology works. Would be annoying if your band didn't open up the hotel room when you came in at 2am and you have to go to the desk anyway...

Sounds like a cool idea to me. Probably not so great if you're a resort front desk CM.

Don't like it, when I check in I want to deal with a person. I get why others may like it, but the reason I don't like it is the same reason I don't do online-check in.

If I'm paying $500 a night I'm not talking to a computer server. I want human contact but that's just me I enjoy the CM's. Hope this stays optional/and or away from the GF and CR.

Side note as for first world problems, how accurate a designation. You are correct the U.S. is a first world nation with first world problems. If you care to talk about second/third world problems in the U.S. such as poverty, socioeconomic disparities, civil rights etc might want to stop surfing a Disney forum....sigh
