Do you like writing it? What inspires you? What type of mood do your poems usually have? Do you usually write with structure or free verse?

I like writing poetry, but unless I have inspiration it's usually horrible. The words usually just pop into my head, but most of the time I write when I'm upset about something. I hate using structure as it just doesn't fit the words of my poems most of the time, so I just free verse. They're usually pretty sad, because, as I said, inspiration usually comes to me when I'm upset. Here's one I wrote a few days ago when I was just in one of those crying-for-no-reason-and-I-can't-stop kind of moods.

My skies are gray.

The sun doesn't seem to notice.

It peeks through the clouds one day.

I fill with hope.

But then it fades back to black.

So what does everyone think of poetry?

I love poetry so much.
We are writing it in English now.
Although I don't care an awful lot for rhyming poems.
And I just like to write free verse.
I hate structure.

A friend and I were talking about how most of our poems are sad and darkness.
It's just what comes easier to us. And we are afraid of the dark and we are not sad.
It's just so much easier to write them instead of happy bright ones.

I'm working on at the moment for "loss" in my english class.
It's about loss of light and I suppose life.

Loss of light.
Overwhelming confusion, sea of coal.
Bottomless pit of nonexistence.
Always thought light and life were eternal.
Found out that only darkness was everlasting.
Feel of icy wind collides with my skin.
Stinging pain as I plummet into oblivion.
I feel blind, not only by darkness but ignorance.
It’s the unknown in the black that frightens.

Wrote it last night. Not finished yet. And I wasn't even in a bad mood...I was pretty happy.
But I did write one about a fairytale a couple days ago. =)
I write better during the evening or nighttime and I have to be at home.
I can't write at school, it's so hard.
I have other poems I've written out of boredom.
Usually it'll just hit me and I'll write it down.

ETA: Anything can inspire me.
The loss of light was inspired by my quote in my signature...
Enchanted half inspired my fairytale poetry.
And the book I'm writing inspired a poem about a homeless man...

I don't like to write it.
I only like to read more modern stuff that people my age write...
Simply because most poetry can confuse the heck out of me.

I do, but for some reason I'm only able to write it when I'm upset about something. Writting them is the way I'm able to 'vent' and let all of my feelings out without exploding on anyone in my family.

Have you ever thought, that no matter what you do,
no matter how hard you try, the real you will never shine through?
You've spent your whole life trying to please everyone you knew,
that in the end, you've buried yourself, so deep, that not even you
know who you are, what you like, or even what you want to do.
That's the way it is with me, but now I'm just starting to see.
See that all I have to do, is just try to be me.
I shouldn't have to be like him, her, or that person way over there.
The only person, that I need to be, is me, and if they don't like it, guess
what? I no longer care.

I just write what comes to me without worrying to much about it fitting any specific 'formula'.

i have 1!
I am the one who sits here alone
waiting for you.
Waiting for you and you only.[/CENTER]
I wonder if you will ever
come home.
My dear, my love, my heart.

poetry is cheaper than therapy. the only autobiography i will ever write is a currently running blog that has some of my poetry of the past few years in it. if you read it literally, its my life in verse. i recently had a messy break up, due to circumstances that i'm not up to typing. i've been writing poetry saying all the things that i can't verbally say about it. I wrote this talking about how I use real life for inspiration.

You’re just another poem.

I guess I ought to thank you.
I owe my creativity to your action.
I do wish we weren't through.
But, being happy is such an artistic distraction.

Let me carve out my heart
because love hurts too much.
I'm craving a fresh start
but my body still misses your touch.

I'm not sure how much you really meant to me.
I try not to think of things like it.
Hurts too much, you see?
Your name tastes awful. makes me want to spit.

I may not get to be your girlfriend.
But I'll be damned if you're not my muse.
This may be our bitter end.
But it gave me some wonderful material to use.

I like 4x4 stanzas. sometimes i'll do just individual verses though. thats my most recent.

I have a longer one that i'm proud of called "The Epic Of Me And You" its too long to post. Feel free to pm me to hear it though. =)
