I remembered the other day a poem from one of my old Twinkle annuals (about 1969-71) which I'd love to use at the front of my "monthly" scrapbook this year, but I can't remember all of it. My mum only threw them out the other day as DNeice wasn't interested and we have no room to store something I'm unlikely to look at
I know it was an English annual but I thought maybe it might be something that's around wider and Twinkle just adapted it for the UK audience. I'll put down what I can remember:
January brings the snow
Makes our ears and fingers glow
February brings the rain
Thaws the frozen lake again
March brings breezes loud and shrill
Stirs the dancing daffodil
April... (somethig about showers and gillyflowers I think)
May brings flocks of pretty lambs
Skipping by their fleecy dams
June brings (something) lillies, roses
Fills the childrens hands with posies
Warm July (something something)
Scatters daisies at our feet
August?
September brings the sheaves of corn
Then the Harvest Home is born (??)
October?
November?
Cold December brings the sleet
Blazing fire, Christmas treat
Any suggestions?
