Podcast Sound

Hey Guys. Love listening to the Podcast. Makes my commuting so much easier. I've notice for a while that the sound doesn't seem to be as good as it has been in the past. I know you have been making some changes to the studio and doing some upgrades so maybe that
is the cause while you get it all figured out. But there always seems to be background noise or hum... well.... it's actually hard to describe. Have you noticed it?

I have noticed a background "hum" on the audio feed but haven't noticed it on the Livestream or YouTube feed.

60hz with 120hz/240hz overtones. it is the ceiling fan. I heard it Tuesday as well. That can easily be notched out in post or using a high pass/low cut filter.

Oh my gosh, the humming! I was worried about my car for awhile, thinking the engine was running fast. I kept turning the sound down to make sure.
Also, it sounds like they have been recording in a shower. Lots of echo sounds.

Never cut overtones. Overtones are your friend.

I thought the same thing! I kept lowering the radio thinking it was my car!

I'll listen to the show no matter what and it doesn't dampen my enjoyment of the show, I just find it a little distracting sometime.

I have had to turn the volume on my computer up all of the way in order to hear everyone though. That started about a month ago.

I have noticed it sounding more echo-like (yup, that's a word) lately too. I have been mostly listening the last month on the downloaded audio version. Some of the voices seem quieter too.

I know which one you're talking about too. I think it's probably some just typing actually but they tend to joke about thing a bit like there was one point where they kept making odd references to Narcosis. It started on an episode where one of them jokingly added that it was a good place for wife swapping and then the next few they mentioned that you shouldn't leave your room key on the table.

YES!!! I actually stopped listening when it is live via Livestream because it is hard to hear what is being said, even with the volume turned up all the way on my computer. I hate to miss a word and find it frustrating, so I no longer watch it live.

We also find it difficult to watch on live stream
Some audios issues

But mostly due to live stream never works..always at each 20 min interval....audio completely cuts out
In a 2 hour show app/ live stream will quit at least 4 times.

That's if you can get it to load show at all
Audio does not stay in sync with video
Etc..

We use to use live stream ourself for some projects
In the end we had to dump live stream as the service is just not there. And had same issues with our viewers using live stream

Same here. It's even more noticable with headphones. Hopefully just part of the new studio remodel.

LOL! They actually had an email from a listener on that other podcast last week referring to that.

In case anyone is interested, I could still hear the hum quite loudly this week. I don't watch live. I listen in my car. A couple of weeks ago my husband (a sound guy and musician) made me turn it off because of the hum.

I'm listening to the show right now and I have to admit the mike that Pete usually uses and the one Jeni Lynn is using on this weeks sound way different from everyone elses and not in a good way. Im not really sure why but it just sounds really noticeable that it's different. I think the need to have everyone using the same type of mic and the sound would be better.
