Podcast Cruise 3.0 - 06/24/2012

...I decided to try something completely different and booked a Cabin at Fort Wilderness. I'm a little worried that my non-outdoorsy husband is going to hate it but I'm excited. I figure that with the big 4th of July weekend crowds, we'll enjoy spending most of our time at Fort Wilderness and avoiding the parks (we have APs so it's no big deal to go to the park for a few hours or not at all).
Please tell me I didn't make a huge mistake!!!! :rolleyes1

Amanda

I think it's a wonderful idea! :thumbsup2
We have stayed there and it's really a very peaceful and fun place. You can see the MK fireworks from the beach if you want (although on July 4th it will be packed even at the beach). You have the campfire movie and smores right there, and the kids will love being able to play outside on the deck.
It's fun to walk to the trading post, see the deer in the morning and just wander through the complex. The boat to MK is also very nice. Food options there are slim, but the trading post does have basic staples and some fun foods you can cook in your cabin.
Don;t worry- the whole family will enjoy Fort Wilderness. :)

Not sure about the group, but I am quite excited to see Kevin Kidney and Jody Daily! I love my ceramic "paper cup" and use it daily for my coffee. I'm such a fan of the stylized art they have produced as merchandise for the parks.

Pat on the back to John (and Kevin for passing along the business card!)!

I'm excited as well! For anyone looking for more information on Kevin Kidney you can visit his blog at http:miehana.blogspot.com. It made for some interesting reading and viewing!

I think that's a fabulous idea, Amanda. I was toying with that myself...
Hope your husband loves it as much as you will.
Welcome aboard, TravisX4. :welcome:Can't wait to meet you and all our fellow cruisers! We're really starting to make some headway in this countdown.

Thank you for the reassurance!

We are also getting serious about countdown now. We are staying at the country inn and suites again the night before the cruise and are tent camping at the fort for 2 nights after. We decided on deluxe dinning since it is just DH & I.

It sounds like we have a similar plan except we'll be staying in a cabin instead of a tent.

Thank you!!! You've highlighted all of my reasons for wanting to try a cabin!

I don't know that much about Kevin Kidney and Jody Daily but I like what I see! My oldest son is showing a lot of artistic talent and I would love him to be able to meet working artists so this should be cool!

Hi

Just wanted to let everyone know we are now an official part of podcast cruise 3.0!

We were booked on the cruise anyways, but through some disney magic, Corey, John, and Tracey at DU, we were able to get this all worked out so we can officially be involved!

Dont know our cabin # yet, as we had to upgrade to a GTY cabin, so we wait until it gets assigned.

It will be myself-Art(turning 46 on June 24), Wife-Lisa, and DD-Meghan-16

we cant wait!

We are staying at BLT for two nights prior to the cruise and then heading over the BWV after the cruise. We also have annual passes so will take it easy during the heat of the day. My goal is to see the fireworks on the 3rd of July before heading home on the 4th.

Same here, but only 1 night at BLT and the post cruise 2 nights at BWV. Pity we can't stay for July 4th, I'm just crossing my fingers and hope that they'll have an early July 4th fireworks display over the weekend. Last July 4th we stayed at BLT and saw the freworks at Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Hollywood studios all from the Top of the World deck.

We are also staying at BLT for 2 nights prior to the cruise, and then staying 1 night at BWV after the cruise. we will fly back home on saturday afternoon.

We're staying one night each per and post cruise at BWV! If we see you and your folks after, Art, we'll say hi.

We'll be without our kids and plan on spending a lot of time in WS doing our own personal F&W Festival. :goodvibes

Its getting closer!!!

One of our fellow Disers has been so kind enough to offer us this service.
Sorry concierge doors are wooden on the Dream

That's a great site!
Have had mine made for a couple weeks now.:)
Stocked up on Bonine today - just in case.
And started getting things together for the FE.
Can ya tell we're anxious to get going?

This is probably not high on anybody's list of things that they want to know about the Dream but here is a list of where the Dream laundry facilities are:
deck 10 midship - starboard - opposite 10572
deck 9 forward - starboard - opposite 9500
deck 8 aft - port - opposite 8150
deck 7 forward - port - opposite 7014
deck 6 forward - starboard - opposite 6508
deck 5 most aft - - opposite 5192
deck 2 forward - port - opposite 2002

Its going to be a factor for Val & I because we'll be away from home for 9+ nights on this trip. At least two nights before and two after the cruise. No way are we packing enough clothes for that long. Add to that our 9YO Grandson is going to be with us and doing laundry is a must.

Laundry is one of those "necessary evils" that follows us even on vacation.
At the World, we usually try to have a 1 bedroom villa so we have the washer/dryer in the room. On the cruise, we plan a laundry day halfway through.

I believe the laundry room closest to us is one floor up on 10. It seems closer than the one on 9, but I'll have to check it out once we get on board.
I do like that we don't have to carry quarters on the ship! :thumbsup2

Thanks Jeff!

Hoping to not have to do any laundry while on the cruise but if necessary it is really near our room on Deck 7. We have a 1BR at BWV after the cruise and plan on doing laundry when we get check in on Friday!

Thanks for the info, Jeff! You are so thorough!

See you next Saturday!

Sooo....DH is insisting I say hi, and try to make some DIS friends for the cruise. I'm gonna round that opening off by saying that I'm very shy, and rarely ever post on ANY of the threads I read, just to be sure I don't make an a#s of myself.
This being said, I am myself interested in making some 'disboard' friends, in the hopes of knowing some nice people on the boat.

So HI!
I'm Amber, DH is Mike. This will be our first cruise experience (single and as a couple), and we are both super excited. We are both in our late 20s, married for 7 years this may. DD is 6 and will be joining us after the cruise (as a surprise) for a week at the parks. My mum will be flying down with her once school lets out. We have already completed our Fish extender, and look forward to all the socializing this will bring. DH has been working on our offerings for months, and everything looks fantastic.
Anyways, I guess that's it for now, so thanks for reading :)

PS:Any other Canucks out there?
