You have a valid point, lugnut.
But, I'm paying over $10,000 for 3 cabins (for 8 of us) - and I want to make sure I know what's involved - especially since none of us have ever cruised before...
I really don't want to over-plan, BUT I feel I should be an informed consumer. For example:
What are the shore excursions offered - and how do those who have taken them feel about the experience? I don't want to pay alot of extra money for something that most others feel is a bust - such as the glass bottom tour. Would have probably thought of signing up for it if almost all the previous "tour-ee's" hadn't panned it, according to Passporter...
Don't know a thing about Nassau. Would have thought it was a lovely place to visit -- have since learned that it's quite the tourist trap - especially close to port...
Wouldn't have known best times for the kids to try for the Aqua Duck, nor the advantage to early dinner with young children, optimal time to be at terminal for embarkation, etc etc without researching - mainly because despite the amount of money being spent, DU has NOT offered any guidance...
Just want some guidance. I'm not kidding when I say I know nothing about cruising, other than that it should be a great time. I have done alot of research on my own. I would really have appreciated some type of notice or brochure as to what to expect as far as packing & what type of clothes to wear/bring, how much luggage each person is allowed, how much liquor is allowed to be carried on per adult, expected amounts for tipping, who to tip, etc. I totally understand that sending out a brochure might be cost prohibitive - especially when many people have only made a deposit and might have to cancel. However, an email list would have been wonderful!
It's going to take me the full year (probably longer) to pay this amount, & I need help calculating how much the total - including all the incidentals - will be.
I can appreciate your point of view, but I need more info.... I don't even know how to get to the terminal. I'm sure some of this info will be forthcoming (ie the terminal, etc.) but the money issues are important now.
I look forward to the cruise - and to meeting you. Maybe we'll have a laugh over our "newbie-ness"!
