I think it just depends on what you want to do and how specific on what you want and don't want you are with the provider. The thing that is nice on the ship is the staff seem to be there for more than a couple of months (I was able to have the same person a year later on the Magic)

Cool. We ran into our first server when we went on the Magic for the second time. So getting the same person could be good!! Thanks

Yes, compared to a spa experience on land in real life, the treatments are expensive. However, I have had great luck on my last 2 cruises booking their "special of the day". It comes out in the navagator and varies.

The wonderful thing about the Vista Spa onboard the ship is it is very nice as well as very inviting. In reality, you're paying for the convenience and the experience and it's worth it for me. :cloud9:

I think I'll look into the "special of the day" and decide then. Thanks! :)

Thanks Aaron. For the record I'm a casual gamer and stink at it. :)

I have been following EM (previously know as Epic Mickey) since last September. It is going to be one heck of a game that I will surely stink at. :rotfl:

Aw, heck... Just when I thought I could live without a Wii... *sigh*

And to get folks even further in the mood...from PCC 1.0...

Hi all! I've finally calmed my life and Disney plans down to "just" 2.0. We are SO excited! And so ready for vacation. I think Jeri (DH) may be turning into a zombie! :scared1: He keeps asking me, how many days, how many days. Can't be soon enough!

Karen: Happy Anni! Great cake! :lovestruc

Dodie: Got Juliet put on my list at the library :thumbsup2

Brandie: My fav first book in a series is Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. They are massive, though I never fail to travel outside myself while reading. popcorn::

Aaron: So glad to hear about the wife and kid! :cloud9:

George: Saw picture of Deb in pirate outfit around here somewhere. You are SO lucky! ;)

Todd: Hope the running is going great. I haven't been able to keep up with goofs. So little time, so many threads, you know. I've found I've just got to pick my threads and set a time limit! :rolleyes1

Happy Tuesday to everyone!

A bit slow here at work today so I started my cruise planning cards today. :cool1: :cool1:

To me, whenever I get to this stage I know we are closing in the date.

I am so looking forward to spending this time with all of you. John still isn't sure what I got him into :goodvibes but he is starting to be excited as well.

Will DCL have Christmas-themed gifts that can be pre-ordered?:confused3
I see where they have Halloween stuff, now.

Yes. We did Christmas last year on the Wonder and there were decorated trees, pre-filled character stockings, flower arrangements, and holiday gift baskets. I think the decorated trees were about $300.

I'll dig and see if I can find the flyer they sent out and post it.

Thanks, I didn't think that was her because that site doesn't have any of the great baskets that I have seen in threads. I will check on it.

Silly me if I had clicked on the right thing I would have seen the Cruise baskets! Now I have it.

Shirley and her gang can make you anything you want. Her website just lists examples of what they can do - if you want something special please contact her and ask. They do an awesome job.

Shirley and Norm are also going to be on the podcast cruise!!!!!

You know it can't get here soon enough. I'll take good care of the Captain. Don't you worry! :)

Trying to use up the last of Matthew's Audible.com credits. I have one left...just this morning, I've downloaded 3 new books: Juliet (as recommended by Dodie), Thanks for the Memories by Cecelia Ahern (love most of her other books and haven't read this one yet), and then Mini-Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella. I love the Shopaholic series so I was very excited to see a new one!

One last credit to use...any other recommendations? I don't like sci-fi and I do like books that are part of a series. I'm one of those readers who always wonders what happens next when a book ends, so I tend to be drawn to a series...

I LOVE AUDIBLE - got hooked when doing a 90 minute commute each way, every day a while back!

Don't know if you like lawyer/police/crime stories but here are some authors and series that I have really enjoyed over the years:

Stuart Woods - The Stone Barrington novels, the Holly Barker novels, and the Will Lee novels.
John Sandford - the 'Prey' novels with leading man Lucas Davenport
Jonathan Kellerman - the Alex Delaware novels
Faye Kellerman - the Peter Decker/Rina Lazarus novels
Kathy Reichs - the Tempe Brennan novels (the TV show Bones is based on these characters and novels)
Patricia Cornwell - the Kay Scarpetta novels

Hope this helps you get started on a new series :goodvibes

What are cruise planning cards?

Just my way of staying organized.

I always lose, destroy or rip my itineraries when they are on a sheet of paper and as much as I love my iPhone this works better for us as I can pass it between John and I if he has a question on what is planned, etc.

What I do is buy one of those cheap $1 photo albums at Walmart/Walgreens, etc. then I type up my itinerary on index cards, one or two cards per day and put them in the album. Example: on our travel day it will have the Swan address information (even though I know where it is), confirmation numbers, balance due information, etc. all typed on it so if we have an issue it is all on the card. Day two will have all the plans we have for that day, as well as ADR confirmation numbers, etc. and so on. After I type them all up I print them and place them in the photo album and carry that around in my backpack. It keeps the itineraries neat and clean, and easy to get out of the bag. I usually have a few extra “photo” slots and in those I place our receipts and other small papers that we collect throughout the day. May not work for everyone but we have been doing this for about 5 years now and it works well for us.

Oh I also design a new cover usually and print that as well and just throw away the one that comes with it.

Thanks John, Ever since the first time 2 years ago that I saw a basket that she did (in a TR) I have been waiting for the time when I could order one. My DD will be turning 14th and the cruise is for her birthday so I can't wait for her to have one of these special baskets for her special day! Ya never know we might even get to meet Shirley and Norm!
By the way until today I have been a lurker - I think I have posted 7 times today maybe I can come out of my shell now.

I must agree on Faye Kellerman and Kathy Reichs. I have dogeared paperbacks from both!

Not a series but I would recommend The Red Tent or The Help, if you haven't read them.

I LOVE AUDIBLE - got hooked when doing a 90 minute commute each way, every day a while back!

Couldn't agree more, love Audible, been a member for years and years, back when you had to purchase a devise from them to listen to it on - LOL.
I also agree with all those recommendations and would add:

Nora Roberts - the "in Death" series
James Patterson - the Alex Cross series
Catherine Coulter - FBI series
Chris Grabenstien - the Ceepak series - all have titles based on amusment park rides
Charlene Harris - the Aurora Teagaren series, same author that wrote the books True Blood is based on, this is a different series, I've only read the first two, but I like them. I would not recommend her Harper series, not impressed.
There is a trilogy by Chelsea Cain, the final book is on my iPhone, so that is the only title I have but it is Evil at Heart, a little grusome but really good
Also, have you read The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo trilogy - awesome

One other - not mystery but very good time travel series, Diana Gabaldon the Outlander Series, I'm thinkiing about re-listening to them.

I like to listen to books I've already heard while I'm working, it's kind of like having the tv on in the background. Since I've already "read" it I don't have to pay that close attention. I could listen to Jim Dale read Harry Potter books to me all day, as a matter of fact I have. :thumbsup2

My favorite subject, I could go on and on, but I'll quit now.

Hope everyone, unlike me, is having a homework free evening :p

How you like my nicely animated PCC logo? Courtesy of the wife and an hour long car trip :cool1:
