Morning All! Happy Thursday! We're finally starting to warm up here a little, to a whopping 40 degrees. :lmao: Never in my life have I thought of 40 as warm! Anyway, I'm glad this week is almost over, can't wait for the weekend.

It's amazing what difference a few degrees makes :thumbsup2

I hear you about the weekend - hope it comes around quickly :cool1:

Happy Thursday folks! :wave2:

I lead such a sheltered life...I've never experienced grocery home delivery...barely knew it existed! :sad2:

Probably swept from between shows. YUM!

George, you're a sick man to think of this! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

but I'm going to use that line on DH next time we go on cheapie popcorn nite :lmao:

cheers,
:flower3:

Happy Thursday Everyone! It is raining here and it may hit 50 today. The rain is to continue off and on for the next several days...next snow in the forecast for early next week when we move to the cold side of the front, but they are not expecting anything heavy.

Park your car someplace high and dry during the rains!

Park your car someplace high and dry during the rains!

I moved to the parking garage last September, partially because our spaces were taken due to construction on the Overpass next to where we use to park and the other because of the flood.

TGIF folks! :wave2:

Some friends of ours sign up for an annual trivia contest fundraiser and someone on their team backed out at the last minute. They're asking me to help fill in :scared1: So they're gonna pick me up to go together tonite. They came in 3rd place last year - hope I don't bring them down :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

DH bought tix for Disney on Ice for this weekend  I haven't seen one of those for years so it'll be fun to see what the Princess edition is like princess:

The figure skating nationals finish up this weekend which will decide who gets to go to the Olympics: Ladies' drama is about Sasha Cohen's return to competitive skating; Ice Dance will show whether go-to team, Belbin/Agosto fall to the newbies Davis/White. Plus the Aussie Open continues with quarterfinals this weekend - looks like it's not going to be a productive weekend for me :lmao: :lmao:

Make it a fab weekend all! :goodvibes

cheers,
:flower3:

I used to follow skating more when my friend Pat and I didn't have guy partners. We'd watch on TV and go to the Stars on Ice sort of show every year.

Now, I am not as familiar with who the top skaters are. But I will be watching next week. I look forward to hearing your reports from Vancouver.

I heard on the podcast about some pre-cruise meets going on. I haven't had a chance to read through all the posts and was wondering if there were any meets planned on the west coast?

Checking in too! I've been spending all of my time on the WISH board because of the race. I started my trip report for that weekend and hopefully I will finish it before I head back to the world.

So does it get busy in the library or do people stay home?

Different busy.
Early morning snow closes schools, but when it stops mid-morning, people come in. We get school age kids that live close all day, instead of just after school.

If it snows in the afternoon and some places close early because of the snow, we are still open. People stop in on the way home from work (they got out early!). They tell us how bad the roads are and are surprised we are still open. But they are so happy they can take a couple movies home.

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone has a great Sunday! :)

Morning!

Today we check out of BCV and into OKW. Grocery and wine shopping are in the cards, perhaps with a stop at Delish Deli.

Val's son arrives later today for a conference. We're hoping to see some of him this afternoon.

Hope all is well with you all!

Forgot to mention, yesterday's ride count = 2.

We had wandered over to Epcot when we got in to get some lunch. Decided to go to Sunshine Seasons in the Land so while we were there we grabbed a FP for Soarin that had a return window of 4:15-5:15. We went to Art of Disney to browse and then decided to do Teresa's favorite ride SSE. After some more shopping (Mouse Gears) our room was ready at BCV so we went back to get some rest since it had been a 4:00 am wake-up for us.

Later in the afternoon we headed back to Epcot and used our FP for Soarin. Love that ride! At that point it was close to our ADR time at Bistro de Paris so we slowly wandered back there. We checked in early and had a 10 minute wait before they seated us. Lovely room, great service, and the food was incredible. There's food porn on my FB page.

Some other things of interest yesterday. Well, maybe not of interest to you guys, but it was certainly different. Val & I were originally scheduled for a 3:00 pm flight, and had already received a first class upgrade. But we decided to see if we could get on an earlier flight - 7:00 am. On Delta, that requires something called a Same Day Confirmed change for which you pay $50. We thought the extra day would be wort it so we did that. The catch is that you can only do this within 3 hours of flight time. So, that meant being all packed and ready to go the night before, then calling at 4:00 am to get on the earlier flight. Thus, alarms were set for 3:50. Called and got the new flights with no problem. Immediately we got in the car and headed for BOS (about a hour away). Check-in was no problem and they tell us we're #1&2 on the upgrade list for first class on this flight. Sure enough, we get upgraded to first class and get seats 1C&D. Great, that makes us first off the plane when we get to MCO!

Then the drama starts. Val & I have a tradition of listening to the most recent podcast when we fly. So after we take off, we're waiting for the signal that its OK to use electronic devices, which doesn't come in the usual amount of time. Even stranger, we don't seem to be climbing much - having apparently leveled off at just under 10,000 feet. Eventually we hear from the flight crew that there is a pressurization problem and they are seeing if they can fix it in the air or if we will have to land at LGA to get it fixed. Great. But it turns out they work some magic in the air and the cabin pressurization works so we can continue our flight normally.

Then, about an hour later there is a call for any physicians on board to identify themselves. One of the passengers was having a medical issue. It turned out to be a very young girl who was headed to WDW with her parents. How do we know this? They had DME luggage tags on their carry-on luggage. Apparently they were going to one of the MK resorts. Unfortunately their plans got a major bump here. The medical personnel that checked her in flight decided that it could have been one of a couple of things, either a fast onset flu or spinal meningitis. That prompted consultation with CDC Atlanta, since the latter can be contagious. When we landed in MCO (about 30 minutes early), there was a very short taxi to the gate. But, we were all asked to stay in our seats while the paramedics boarded to tend to the sick girl. An amazingly well behaved plane load of people dutifully complied. We wound up staying on the plane for probably 45 minutes while they decided if we might have been exposed to something contagious and what they could/should do about it. In the end they decided that the likelihood that it was contagious was low, but not zero. They took the patient off the plane along with the rest of her family and presumably they headed to some medical facility. Once they decided not to quarantine us, the let us off the plane after taking our local contact information. So far, so good - No calls.

As Val & I head to baggage claim I comment about how great it was that we had such an event packed flight and we actually paid and extra $50 each for the experience. From that point on, the day went pretty much as planned. Just a little excitement to start off the trip.
