PodCast 4.0 Chit Chat

Hey Gang....I have to report some sad news....I cancelled the cruise:sad1:..but it's not all bad...after talking with my girls, it was decided by all of us to take a trip to WDW in September for 9 days instead.

Sorry you are cancelling.
Glad you are getting to go with your all your crew.
When are you going in September?
We will be there at the beginning of the month.

Sending off for passport renewals this week [exp in May]. Can do mine and DH by mail.
DD has to go in person since she was under 16 [just] when she got hers. So glad there is a passport office at our post office.

We are arriving on the 7th...my girls are so excited about this trip...we've never been to WDW for this long, just the 3 of us and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm hoping to make it a relaxing trip...we're on the QS dining plan, so I don't have the headache of making ADRs....I only had one to make for breakfast....I'm going to "try" to not plan out every day...but you all know that probably won't last....and the parks don't have too many late hours, so we can get back to the resort and have time to unwind and enjoy the resort...that will be a first.

Passport back & now we play the waiting game. Luckily my normal trip in September comes first as I go down every year for my birthday. I've decided i'm probably going to start going down twice a year from now on & its just figuring out the best deals on airfare & room.

Sorry you had to cancel, September is a great time to go down & the crowds aren't terrible & neither really are the wait times. You'll all have a great time, hope to see you sometime later.

It looks like we'll have to cancel DD. Rest of us are still planning to go. Cabin will seem much bigger.

We are flying back home on the 15th...maybe we will see each other somewhere...I do plan on wearing my LGMH....if you see it, please stop me and say hi !!!

What's an LGMH?

It's a paint color sample from Home Depot in the shape of a Mickey Head...I think it's called Allien Green....LGMH stands for Lime Green Mickey Head...

Ever since I heard about this from the boards, I wear it everytime, and I have met several DISers by having it on.

Checking in to say hello to all...
Just paid off my summer cruise (shh...it's on Carnival - the Magic in July) so my attention has been on that trip, but still am enjoying the reviews of the Fantasy that seem to indicate we are in for quite a treat in December.

:thumbsup2 CCL is always a good bet if you need a cruise, but don't want to spend $$ for DCL, and don't mind no-frills [there are frills, but they're extra $$]. Haven't had a bad cruise with CCL yet. It's all what you make of it.

I don't view this as a no frills cruise. It's on their newest ship and we are trying out a new cabin category - the Spa category - this gives us complimentary access to their version of the Rain Forest plus a Thalassotherapy pool that DCL does not have. Frankly I find Carnival's food better than DCL and they go places DCL does not - so I find it a really nice option.

Ok Honesty time here.
This will be our 3rd cruise (2nd DCL)

First cruise was on American Hawaii Cruises in 1989.
DCL in Alaska May 2011

Both were fantastic!
The first because I had absoloutely no expectations and went with the flow and intended to enjoy myself and I did. (prekids)

The second with DCL (with kids, one special needs son)
I had to do much more planning to make everything work with our son- Honestly biggest worry pre-cruise trying to understand things so he could be stable with the change. Only two things to deal with.

And other than that we still had fun. Just going with the flow is much more relaxing.

This cruise- he will not be joining us. He's 18 now and choosing not to come.
It will be an easier cruise for Mom and Dad.

Still any cruise without dishes, bedmaking, cleaning etc-- I can have fun.
Having Giant Mice just makes it more magical for me.

Still I would take a cruise on any line over staying at home.

Checking in, have not been on here in a while. Sorry to hear you will not be sailing with us. I know you will have a great time in September. I will miss you by a day but my DW, NWmom, will be there.

Thanks....already planning on another one when DGD graduates

Hey Gang....I have to report some sad news....I cancelled the cruise

At first, I thought you meant you cancelled the ENTIRE cruise (all guests)! :scared1:

Sorry to hear you will not be cruising with us ... but sounds like you have excellent alternate plans in place! :woohoo:

...Just paid off my summer cruise (shh...it's on Carnival - the Magic in July)

No need to apologize ... we ALL make mistakes from time to time! :rolleyes1

We sailed Carnival several years ago ... it was horrendous! We chose Carnival because of its itinerary to Belize. A storm rerouted us to Nassau ... so we rebooked ... again ... wanting to go to Belize. We're not know which cruise was worse. It was a zoo, and we felt like we were at Howard Johnson's Motel.

On one of the cruises, we discovered the mattresses in our stateroom were severely worn, and concave. Having disabilities with my back (Steven), we asked for the mattresses to be replaced. We were told there were no other mattresses available on the ship. After reminding them of our advance notice (provided to CCL upon booking) of low back issues, ONE of the mattresses was eventually replaced. Seriously, now ONE mattress became available? We did not ask for another stateroom ... but perhaps we should have done so. I (Steven) felt guilty about sleeping on a normal mattress, while my DW was in agony for the week.

We was surprised at what appeared to be so many people who were happy with HoJo's. As you can see by our sign-off, we are NOT a Carnival fan. :scared:
