PodCast 4.0 Chit Chat

Just returned from our Carnival Magic cruise. I must say, my preconceived notion of a summer Caribbean cruise were off!

It was actually comfortable (if not cool!) in comparison to the temperatures we left behind. Temps were in low 90's at worst in Jamaica and Cozumel. Indeed it was quite humid, but given it was 107 when we left Dallas and came home to 96 yesterday - well.. :)

The Magic was the smoothest cruise I have ever experienced - not once did I lose my footing or balance and today the day after I return - I have zero room spinning on dry land! Amazing ride for sure.

Carnival's entertainment and food ratings slip in my eyes after this sailing, but the staff was amazing, the ship and opportunity for activity wonderful, and I am certainly happy to have sailed to a new port and found some time away from the office. We did buy a future cruise certificate on board so we can go to Europe next fall on Carnival - so it's a big thumbs up from us. Could they work on some things? Sure - but we had a great time!

Now I am listening to the 3.0 Live show podcast and realizing - I don't have much time before we pack up and go to Florida!

Scott, glad you're back, and glad you had good time. My cruises with CCL have not been bad, either. Not same as DCL. But nothing to sneer at, either. But hey, I'm not picky. Even giving NCL another shot.

Not sure if this has come up in any of the previous 84 page but...
I am excited that we will be on the Fantasy on 12-12-12!!:cool1:

Mayans or not- at least we will all be in our Happy Place! :goodvibes

Let's see. On 12/11 we will be in Costa MAYA and on 12/12 it's Cozumel.:scared: We'll be among the first to know if anything happens. Would strongly suggest that no one messes with the ruins on an excursion.:rotfl:

Welcome back! I'm glad you had a great time (again) on Carnival. Perhaps you'd like to share your review of the cruise on this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2953025

I want to go to the Chacchoben Ruins in Costa Maya, and I'm trying to decide between the Tulum Ruins or the Secret River excursion in Cozumel. Since you mentioned where we'll be on 12-12-12 - maybe I ought to choose the Mayan ruins! :teeth:

Thought it was 12-21-12. :confused3

That's what I thought as well.....

I think you are right. It has something to do with the winter solstice.

The 2012 phenomenon comprises a range of eschatological beliefs according to which cataclysmic or transformative events will occur on 21 December 2012. This date is regarded as the end-date of a 5,125-year-long cycle in the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar. Various astronomical alignments and numerological formulae have been proposed as pertaining to this date, though none have been accepted by mainstream scholarship.

Just found out that my in-laws are joining us for the trip! I'm a little bit nervous (they're not really Disney-people), but I'm hoping that they enjoy it:goodvibes

They just haven't discovered that they're Disney people ... yet.

Well, now that we're officially signed on for PCC4, I could live without the end of the world thing (!), so I'm happy to stick with the 21st. ;)

XO
Liz
