Actually, the Pirates film has cleared $630 million worldwide, which puts it on track to being one of the highest grossing films of the year. You can be sure we'll see that sequel very soon now that the same director, writers, and stars are all lined up.

that any studio has had two $300 million+ movies in one year: Finding Nemo and Pirates of the Carribean.

I wonder why Disney didn't tie some promotion in with the new pirate based Survivor Series? It might have given the movie even a few more weeks in the top ten.

I'm sure they would have if Survivor was on ABC instead of CBS.

I was at Disney for the past few days so thanks to Redcon for bringing up what I think is quite an impressive accomplishment. This was a most entertaining movie with great acting, special effects and a fun storyline. Johnny Depp rules!

Also, if you're going to WDW soon, look for a CM named Guillermo from PR University (we met him just outside the Catastophe Canyon entrance)...He does a GREAT Captain Jack impersonation and is a hoot!

POC Now a Trilogy

I saw something about this at boxofficemojo too. If I understand it right, they are considering splitting up Pirates 2 into two episodes kind of like Matrix and Kill Bill. I'm not enthusiastic about the idea.

As mentioned earlier I recall the writers saying they had two or three more stories for Captain Jack in mind...I would suspect this would just be a more inexpensive way to give us what we're all wanting anyway...

Why did PoC drop entirely off the charts at boxofficemojo after oct 23 ? It was number 16 at the time,493 theaters and 55k gross. Next day it's gone, but other,much older movies playing in less theaters and much lower grosses are still there. Did Disney pull it from the theaters or is it just an oversite on the part of Boxoffice ?

Vike, I was wondering the same thing. It must have been pulled from theatres in anticipation of a pre Christmas DVD release...

which is terrible, since i wanted to see it again in theatres for my 11th time b4 it came out on video...
