Well, I just changed our ressies from CBR to PO-R. I was really worried that we'd get a room in a far off island at CBR (since it's the largest resort) and DH is not keen as it is about staying at a moderate. I'm trying to make this as pleasant as possible for him.

I was happy to hear that the boat to DTD is now running, therefore I switched to PO-R. Also, I've heard what a romantic and quaint resort it is. I was thinking about staying at PO-FQ, but the CM told me it only has a food court, no sit down restaurant. So, I took PO-R.

I've requested the Magnolia Mansion, 2nd Floor w/King bed. How's this location? We like the room decor in the mansions over the alligator bayou decor (from pictures) that's what made us decide on the mansions. I thought the mansions were closer to the food court and bus, but from what I read recently, I find now it's not. Just how long is the walk? Is this a good location?

Is this a nice resort for couples?? Is the food court and restaurant nice/decent? Anyone have a website with info on PO-R?

Any info you have on this resort I'd appreciate.

Did I make a good choice???

I stayed in Magnolia Terrace when I was there. There was a bus stop on the other side of the building. It was very close. The food court was not that far of a walk. What is a far walk to you?

It took maybe 4 minutes from my door to the food court. Maybe even less, I'm not sure. The walk is so beautiful. You walk through the landscaping between the buildings, then you walk along the river, you cross over a bridge to Ol' Man Island, walk past the pool through really nice foliage, then over another bridge and the food court is right there.

It's such a nice walk that it didn't bother me. I really enjoyed walking around the resort at night.

The Mansion rooms are very elegant. Very well decorated. It's a very nice resort for couples. Very quiet. Spread out so you don't feel so cramped. I never saw lots of people in one spot outside of the food court.

The food court is really, really good. The garlic knots are great at the pizza place. The breakfasts were good. I never ate at the sit-down, but it looked nice.

www.wdwig.com has a section on POR.
www.wdwfun.com has really nice pictures of POR.

I don't think you made a mistake at all. Up until we bought into DVC this was our favorite resort. I didn't like CBR at all. Actually checked out after two nights and moved over to DXL, will always be DXL to me. We have stayed in both sections. Like you, I was afraid of the "rustic" feel in the bayou section. On a ten-night trip we decided to switch from Magnolia Terrrace over to bldg. 14 in the bayou section and were very pleased with the proximity to the food court. The rooms were very nice, but Magnolia Terrace is very pretty and romantic. Like the previous poster stated, the walk through Ol man island to the main bldg. is very, very nice. It's a very beautiful and quiet resort, I really don't think you will be disappointed.

We've stayed at several WDW resorts, including WL, and PO-R (DxL) is definitely our favorite. We've stayed thier 4 times and will be staying their again in May. We've stayed in both sections and prefer the mansion section over the bayou section, but both are really very nice. It's so beautiful and peaceful there. We enjoy walking throughout the resort and also using the 'quiet' pools. I just love it there!

Just a word about room requests at DxL (oops-POR). Twice I requested AB, both times I got Mansions. Initially I was very disappointed, but loved it every trip. Just don't get your heart too set on your requests, and you won't be disappointed. By the way, finally got AB on our third try.

We have stayed at PO-R (then DXL) twice. Once in the Mansions (Magnolia Terrace) and once in the Alligator Bayou (building 14). The 1st stay was in the mansions, and they were beautiful. The lawns are very manicured. Our only complaint was room location. We were in a water view room on the 1st floor, but our view was hidden by one of the large pillars. Being young and dumb, we didn't think to ask to change rooms for a better view. The walk to the main building was about 7 minutes, and from the bus stop, about 4. Not too bad, really! We rented paddle boats and paddled up the Sassagoula River, taking pictures of all of the buildings, and PO-FQ. We also enjoyed the main pool! We had a really relaxed time, and stayed for a week.

The 2nd time, we had a great room in Alligator Bayou, building 14. We had a water view that time too, but were very happy with it. We were right across from the bridge to the main building, and the walk was only 2 minutes. Although we were so close, we felt like we were a million miles away ---very secluded and romantic! The bus stop---there was a short cut to it, that was only a 2-3 minute walk, as well. We used the main bus stop outside of the main building. We were only there of 4 nights this time, but we had a blast. Didn't have enough time to go swimming or rent a boat, though!

Given the choice, we would stay in Alligator Bayou instead of the mansions...they just suit us better. We liked the natural surroundings better than the manicured lawns and gardens... and really enjoyed watching the little rabbits, ducks and squirrels right outside our door.

Hope you have a wonderful time!
