I tried posting this earlier and had problems so if it posts twice, I apologize. My kids have a couple of days off school in October, we have park passes already....so here I am trying to plan a quick trip to Disney again. I love Disney in Oct. I've got a hold on a water view room at PO FQ. We've never stayed here so I'm excited but wanted to know if someone could recommend a bldg. number I should request. I would like to be close to the pool, not too far from the food court and not too far from a bus stop either. Also, does the food court have a good selection of food to choose from? Any feedback on this resort would be much appreciated! Thanks.

I'll give a try to some of your answers...I stayed there in April and really enjoyed the resort.

It is a small resort so you are never far from anything. Buildings closest to the pool are 5 and 2 which are adjacent to the building with the main building/food court and the bus is just past that. I suppose technically building 5 is closest to both pool and food- but again- it is a very compact resort.

It is an easy walk- 20 min to Port Orleans Riverside- nice path meanders along the river. Gives you access to their restaurant- Boatwrights- if you wanted a bit more than the food court.

I thought the food court had a good blend of basics- pizzas & burgers but also some New Orleans favs- Beinets for breakfast and Muffaletta (sp) sandwiches.

Transportation was great- this resort is centrally located so it didn't take more than 10 min to get to MK and Epcot. You can also take a boat to Downtown Disney.

It is very festively themed and the pool area really highlights that- fun 'Dragon' slide.

Happy Planning!

My vote is for building number 5. You are next to the pool, and very close to the food court.

I agree with the above posts, I just got back Aug 9. Make sure you take the kids to see Yehah Bob at the POR. He does a show nightly Tues-Sat....they'll love it.
Have fun

POFQ is our favorite resort.

As others have posted building 5, this resort shares buses with POR but picks up and drops off first at POFQ, Do try the boat to Downtown Disney also. Here is links to the menus at the foodcourt.

Also may want to try Boatwrights at Port Orleans Riverside.

Thanks everyone for all of the great information! I love staying at new/different resorts and I'm really looking forward to PO!

I love POFQ question threads because that's where we are staying in January and having only ever stayed at SOG...I love hearing all about what we can look forward to at POFQ.

POFQ is the *BEST*!!!!! :Pinkbounc :cool1: :Pinkbounc We stayed in a king smoking room that was a free upgrade to a water view when we were there in March. The room was in Building 2, Room #2326 and could not have been more convenient! Because it was a king room, we had two long windows that overlooked the glorious Sasagoula River. We were directly below it so it was a 1 minute walk to the water taxi that takes guests to Downtown Disney. I really suggest this Building; it is so close to transportation, the pool, and the river. You'll love it! :)

We just got back 8/11 from our 1st stay at POFQ.
We were in building #4 standard view, room 4334, which looked out into a courtyard. It was the closest builing to the foodcourt and bus stop.
All we had to do was walk out the side door of Sassagoulas, cross the street and up the stairs to our room. (Corner room, but with only 1 window.)
I would request buildings #2, 3, 4 or 5, they are all really close. You can't go wrong with any of them.
We found that the food selection was better here then in other moderate resorts, and they were open till midnight, which was nice to get a quick snack after the parks closed.
We will be returning to POFR again, and again. We have previously stayed at other moderates and have converted over, at least for now  .

We've stayed there once a year since it opened (except when they shut it down due to low occupancy). This is our favorite moderate. The water view rooms will be the furthest away from the food court and bus stop since they will be along the water ... unless you request a pool view room. Keep in mind that you don't have a balcony to sit on to enjoy the waterview so you will have to either just look out the window (if you are on the 3rd floor the view may be obstructed by trees) and walk out onto the walkway to admire the water. So, in our book, paying extra for a waterview room isn't something we typically do. If we could sit on a patio and watch that would be different but here that isn't possible.

All that being said, our favorite building is Building #5. It is close to the foodcourt, bus stop and pool. One side faces the pool. One side faces a beautiful courtyard area and one side faces the "river". We've also stayed in bldg 4 and 6. Both are also very good in terms of location.

We enjoy the foodcourt and really like the walk to PORiverside to enjoy their food court. Also, at POR they have a sit down restaurant which isn't bad, either. Then if you get tired of the food there you can catch a bus or the boat to downtown disney and enjoy their selection. The boat ride is very nice but isn't quick. We really enjoy it to relax and see the things along the river. It is a view you won't see anywhere else. If you go when it is chilly out at night, be sure to bring a jacket. The wind on the river is chilly in the evening.

The rooms were recently renovated so everything in them is fairly new. They now also have a refrigerator in the room along with a coffeepot, if you are a coffee drinker. Hairdryers are on the wall, too.

Any other questions, let me know. Glad to provide answers. We really enjoy this resort. I'm sure you will have lots of fun.

You can do a search on the site to find out lots of specifics on the resort. I know I've answered lots of questions.

We love POFQ and have stayed there many times (including twice in the last 8 months). This last time we were in Building 1. We really really didn't like building 1. Not only was it really far from the busses/food etc... but we were right next to the garbage dumpsters. It was really smelly. We'll definitely stay at POFQ again, but we'll request a building next time (specifically anything but 1).

We were in building #5. It really is close to the pool and a short walk to the main building and food court!

FYI - I had read that building 2 and 4 are smoking buildings, just in case that matters to those who are requesting specific buildings (please correct me if I'm wrong).

Also - does anyone know if they still have the icees/slusheys at the food court?

Thanks,
Tammy

Hi! They didn't have the icees in May - sounds like it would be fun, though! :flower:

Just back from POFQ. We requested a non-smoking room and were placed in building #4, 3rd floor.
It was not a smoking room.

As I recall, Bldg 4 has both smoking and non-smoking rooms in it. We've stayed in a non-smoking room in Bldg 4 but I've seen posts from people who said they stayed in a smoking room in the same building. We didn't notice the smoke when we were there, though.

I called to ask for a smoking room, I asked about building number 4 and he said, that is non-smoking. He said building number 2. Which is fine for me.
I told him I heard #4 was smoking, he said "I never heard that!"...So..most everyone is a non-smoker, building 4 sounds non-smoking from the front desk point of view!
