PMSers Unite!

M hooked up the generator and I am listening to trees break. We are safe though.
THank you for checking in ladies and stay safe
Ps, Tig is without power and needs coffee

We are fine here. Lost power for about 3.5 hrs this morning after the worst of the storm had passed. Other than that we are fine...knock wood. Good friends had a tree fall on their house (they are physically ok, despite damage to the house) and several neighbors have lost everything in their basements. We are a little nervous about the creek near us that is supposed to crest this afternoon at 10 ft over flood stage....we will probably lose power again, and not be able to get anywhere when that happens. Hope everyone else is safe!:grouphug:

:grouphug::grouphug:Where in Pa are you?

Hi. South shore of LI here. We haven't lost power. But at about 9:15 this morning a tree fell on the house! :scared1: i was sitting in the living room, heard this noise, and then my crazy dad went out & said a tree had been uprooted. Luckily, it didn't land on power lines or go thru the house. We've reported it, and when the storm is over they will come & remove it.

Rain has stopped, the winds aren't as bad as they were. Still staying inside.

:scared1::scared1:Call your insurance company!

OMG!! Our entire street flooded fast! Like 10 minutes fast. I was keeping an eye on things out there every 20 minutes or so. I looked it was ok then our neighbor called and said you better get out here. Water was up to the windows on some cars. All the neighbors helped push cars that wouldn't start/move out to dry ground. A couple of houses just up the street are totally flooded. Rescue workers came down the street in a rubber raft to make sure everyone was ok!

I am so pissed off now though. This didn't need to happen. Our storm drains were clogged. The city/county promised to have them all clear by the time this started. They cleared them now and the water is back down to normal for heavy rain.

eta: took pics with dens phone but since it was so dark out I don't think it'll show properly.
Are you still in the same place you were when I came to NYC in '07.

Thanks to everyone who has checked in! Glad to hear that overall, everyone made it through OK. Hope it continues that way through the flooding.
Missy, sorry to hear about the tree on your house.

Everything is okay here at my house, just lots of leaves and sticks in the yard. Haven't ventured out yet to see if there is anything major around me.

Luckily most of the electric lines around me are underground so we did not lose electricity.

Power is back on but our county is under a travel ban. Guess I will get my reports done :rolleyes1

Call in to insurance company. They had a special line for Irene issues.

Now that the winds have died down I went out to look--wow! That tree had to be about 60 years old, the root system is intense.

I am so glad you and Dad weren't hurt

Just checking in from Maine... just some wind and rain so far. My folks in NH have lost power, but we haven't yet. Hopefully it will just keep fizzling and we won't lose power at all.

Missy, glad no one was hurt :scared1:

Aimee I forgot how funny your tags are~~:rotfl:

Glad to hear everyone is okay. Did Tig ever get her coffee? I thought I heard some distant wailing a few hours ago. :lmao:

So, I have a dilemma for all of you. We are currently booked to go the WDW the first weekend of January for the marathon weekend. Originally, the plan was to take the kids, DH do the half, I do the full, get a mini-vacation out of it. Sounds good, right? Well, now we are second guessing that plan. DH doesn't necessarily want the boys to miss 5 days of school right after going back after Christmas break. While it isn't ideal, it doesn't really bug me. So, here are our options:

1. Continue with our original plan. We get to run, kids get a trip but they miss some school.

2. Go mid-Dec. after the kids get out of school for break. Then try to find someone to watch the kids so DH and I can go to the race. (may be difficult to find someone to stay with kiddos).

3. Go in Dec. and don't race. (I really don't like this option)

4. Find someone to watch kids while we run, then go with the kids in the fall.
(This is only an option b/c I don't want the kids to get sick of WDW and to be frank, they have been a lot since we moved here).

Ugh. What do i do? I already have the rooms for Jan and I don't even know if there is availability in Dec.

Aimee I forgot how funny your tags are~~:rotfl:

I've been Chachied is still my favorite :lmao:

MF, See what the rates are for Dec, but I personally would take them out of school. I know, horrible parent, BUT they are only young once, it's not a ton of missed time, and spots for the marathon are hard to come by and if you have them already, keep them! Your kids will get more out of cheering you both on for a MARATHON than they will get in school!

My thoughts exactly. Hell, if I were capable of running a mile, the whole world would know about it.:rotfl:

Ahhhh Chachi.

Well crap! We got through the storm just fine with power but it went off around 1 and has been off all day. :headache: No idea when it will be back. Just fired up the generator for a little bit so keep the fridge and freezer cold. Gotta go, sucking up unnecessary power!

Glad you and pops are safe and it didn't go through the house. HAte the thougth of the loss of all those old trees though. I have a thing for trees.

I agree wtih Aimee. I wouldn't go during Christmas break though. Eeesh. Too crowded for my blood. it takes a couple of days for students to settle in after Christmas break anyway doesn't it?

Well about 15 mins after we got the generator going the power came back on. Should have fired that sucker up earlier!

It appears that Shug is fine, she has posted very briefly on FB. Don't know if she has power. It is out all over down here. I took the girls out to get ice cream after we cleaned up the yard and  . There were traffic lights out all over and apparently NO ONE around here knows traffic laws! Absolutely no one on the major roads were stopping at all. I stopped at each light (like I am supposed to!) and that lead to a few people stopping and letting those on the side streets go. Almost had a major accident when I stopped, the guy the other direction stopped when he saw me and as the side street truck began to pull out a truck in another lane coming the other direction wasn't going to stop. He slammed on his brakes just in time. I was screaming "NO DON'T GO! STOP!" but since I was in my van with my windows up it didnt help anyone. :upsidedow I am not going out anywhere past my immediate area until all the traffic lights are back on. That was just insane and very, very scary. I took a side street route home to avoid all the major roads and lights.

My kid are now disappointed that we don't get to have another sleepover in the living room! DH told them to go right ahead but he is sleeping in his bed.

We do have a major casualty of the storm-- the DVR hard disk fried from the power outages. :sad1: I had over 100 hours of stuff recorded on it that is now gone forever including any and all WDW shows ever shown. I am bummed about that but nothing that can be done. Now I have to watch live TV until it gets replaced. I am not sure my kids even know about watching TV with commercials and no ability to Pause for a bathroom break!

We are all tired so I will check back tomorrow. Hopefully everyone will have power and coffee!
