hi guys!
Redshoes the game sounds hilarious!! I think it is great that you stepped up to coach.

Shug--does he like computer stuff? A best buy gc is always a hit around here. Some other fun things we have done for DH are a session at a flight simulator place, a ride in a B2 Bomber, a night away(with me) in a hotel, a bartender book with several types of mixers and alcohol and....well, the rest of it is Daddy type of stuff--you know, a frame with a pic of kids for his desk and stuff like that. And you could consider his suggestion.....

I was at the Dr this morning. I have been struggling with coping with daily life. Not totally miserable or anything but just have no energy or motivation to finish a task, don't have genuine fun with anything and pretty much want to be by myself instead of dealing with the kids. As far as the kids go, it has been a lot of going through the motions but not feeling much. I also haven't been able to get a decent night's sleep in more than a month. It was a new Dr as mine moved and I was really nervous, but the good news is that I really liked her a lot. The news I still feel kind of weird about is that she wrote me a prescrip for Celexa. Shug is that what you said you just started taking? I am kind of nervous about it. I pick it up at the pharmacy this afternoon. Wish me luck.

I don't think Shug would approve you taking her DH to a hotel but anyway ;)

Julie don't feel wierd about it! We all need help at times :grouphug:

DM3,

Is celexa something to help you sleep or something for depression. Is the dr an internist/GP or a specialist? Did you want to take something, get a referral, or talk to someone?

I ask because sometimes doctors are quick to prescribe when a person doesn't want something. One time my DH talked to his dr about getting the name of a dr to talk to about some issues he was having (minor anger issues--nothing major, just trouble handling things the way he should) and instead of giving him the name of someone, the dr (internist) handed him an Rx and told him to try the meds. My DH told him he just wanted the name of someone and didn't want the meds and the dr told him to try them. Meds are great when a person needs and wants them, but that wasn't the issue. So my DH came home from that appt mad... ;) :rotfl:

Good luck with what's troubling you. I most certainly have a hard time finishing what I begin, which does not help how I'm feeling. I am in such a time crunch right now with all this Bar Mitzvah prep that it's not even funny. We have so many things to do around the house and I have to get more focused than what I've ever been. Thankfully the kids have started school, so I can start with my 15 minutes of work, 15 minutes of break to read the paper, DIS, etc and work throughout the day. That works well for me and I've gotten a lot done today. Doing it this way means that I don't burnout.

I'm off to make cookies for the kids (first day of school treat every year) before they get home.

How about a home made brew kit? If your DH likes beer, it's fabulous.

Yes and I like it so far. I started it Thursday. Thurs, Fri and Sat I noticed it made me mildly drowsy but not enough to nap. Sunday it didn't. Sunday evening all of the sudden it was like a light got switched on. I felt better than I have in months. I played Petey's favorite game of chase and fetch until HE was tired this time. I actually laughed out loud. Then I went to bed and Dh and I  for the first time in almost 3 months (TMI? :rotfl: ) I'm a bit tired today but I took Petey for a 30 minute walk and managed to clean my kitchen. The only side effect I've had is that I'm pretty thirsty and an extremely mild sense of nauseau once or twice a day for just a few minutes. That ones hard to explain but it's not bad enough to make me concerned. It does sound like you have some symptoms of depression. Don't feel bad. I hung my dirty laundry here and all I got was a LOT of support.

Oh, and if you wanna take my Dh to a hotel for a night, be my guest. But I warn you, he snores and he's a blanket hog ;)

I gave my DH a Richard Petty driving experience one year for our Anniversary and he loverd it. It's a little pricey but it was the best gift ever! He's not a big race fan but he's a guy and they like to drive fast. LOL

I hope to God your DH doesn't choose today to read this thread! :rotfl2: You are too funny! Glad the meds are leveling off a bit, or whatever you want to call it.

I've had a terrible migraine week--I've had 4 in less than a week. I think it's "that time of the month" migraines and not anything I'm doing or not doing, for the most part. It's very frustrating, though. I went for a few weeks with not a one, then this. I need to be better at charting them and looking at them in relation to my cycle. Sometimes I feel it's one friggin' thing after another--this time 2 weeks of being sick from the strep throat and once we figure that out, the migraines.

OK, more cookies to bake.

moving my cousin turned into an adventure ... :rotfl2:
the last 2 weeks I spent in Florida were on a boat named the "Oakweed II" with a dog named "Kilo".... and in that time frame I managed to drive a Royalstar on the beach in Fort Lauderdale, blow out a flip flop, fall over on the motorcycle, loose my shorts and "moon" (among other things) half the beach, I did manage to get his server up and running in the new office, and get his travel trailer set up, he is looking for a house w/deep water access, so he is staying in the travel trailer until he finds one .... I did spend some time with my wife, Froggy and his wife at WDW, we went to Epcot, MGM and Magic Kingdom, we met some DISers and had a blast at Jelly Rolls saturday night :teeth:

:rotfl: :rotfl: Guess so!!! Sorry, Shug, but I meant I took my DH and You should take yours. And aren't ya glad that the kind moderators on the DIS gave us this smilie so we could say  without saying it? Do you think they expected it to be used that way? :rotfl:

Thanks for the info on Celexa. She started me on a pretty mild dose so we will see how it goes.

Angel, I really shouldn't feel strange. DH has chronic depression and I have spent the last I don't know how many years trying to convince him that taking his antidepresants are no different than me taking thyroid meds. I need to listen to my own advice.

T&B, yes I did want some meds. I do want to do counselling after a bit I think, but right now I just need a boost. This dr was sooo incredibly nice. I am really pleased about that because I have seen one or two there who I didn't like at all when my old one was out or unavailable.

My next job is to convince DH that he needs to #1 up his meds or change them or something. and #2 start seeing a therapist. He is way against #2 but I am tellin' ya there are some issues that prayer alone is not fixing.

And some us more than others. :grouphug:

DM3, it's tough to see a spouse not doing what you think they should be doing. I totally understand that. My DH gets so frustrated if he thinks I'm not doing everything in my power to find out answers to my migraines (even though I've gone into everything I'm doing and have done  ), but he's doing nothing to help himself. It's very frustrating.

Chuck--we need details about Jellyrolls! Glad you got back safely.

well, shug would be jealous!!! I got to grab Rick's butt, he did the birthday dance on stage, my wife and a couple others, how would you say, were feeling no pain ;) , and I had the grand pleasure to meet some DISers from here that turned out to be the same IRL as they are here :teeth:
I was able to meet a very nice couple that post on here very little but read alot, when they figured out who we were it was all they could do to not jump up and down and point us out, they seemed to have known everyone by thier screen names, Frog had told us about the mono rail and first time riders so my DW and I road up front, and I told them about it about it friday night at Magic Kingdom, and they told me saturday night that they had done the same thing, they didnt give me thier screen names but seemed to be keeping up with this thread so I will say " HI " to them in this post, as far as the rest of the night at Jelly Rolls, well, let me just say it was a blast!!!!!!! we had alot of fun :teeth: that made the drive home sunday rather long :rotfl2:

Well if they keep up with the thread, they'd better stop in and say "hi"!!! :teeth: Of course they need to bring pizza (or asparagus). :rotfl: Sounds like a fun time and it's a blast to meet people you "know" online and even people you don't know from the DIS.

chuck--that sounds like a fun night! Makes me want to consider finding out who will be there when I am. (I am always kind of a hermit with my family when I am there.)

I would like to highly recommend Arbor Mist Blackberry Merlot to you all. It's most tasty and has certainly taken the edge off :cloud9: It's cheap too :rotfl:
